First Date [Part One]

IT CAME AS A SURPRISE, AND NOW MY YEAR IS GONNA SKYROCKET.

I'll start from the beginning of all this, I guess.

So basically, I was sitting in class, trying to do my classwork- Geometry, that is- when a note got randomly dropped onto my desk by someone walking by.

I looked up from doing some random problems, seeing... my crush?

His name was Aaron, but... why was he dropping notes at my desk? He never dropped notes, and he wasn't that social either.

But... he was nice, he was funny, he played video games... and we were friends.

Well, we didn't talk that much but yeah, you could qualify us as friends.

I didn't question it.

I picked up the note and unfolded it, reading:

Tonight, I want to get to know you. You can wear what you're wearing right now, or something like that. I know you've never been on one of these, but I think you'd like it. Meet me at Haldridge Park, 5 PM. You'll see it when you get there.

Underneath, he had scribbled his phone number quickly, and a small smile had been on my face throughout the note. I was in awe and surprise, that he wanted to spend time with me at the park.

Alone.

I think.

I quickly pocketed the note, and I looked back up to see Aaron walking back to his seat.

He had looked over at me, saw me looking at him, and I saw a ghost of a smile on his face.

My stomach had the butterflies and I thought my cheeks were turning red, so I turned away and went back to my work, but I was nervous.

Barely anyone wanted to hang out with me, especially by ourselves. But here he was, asking me. He's asking me.

I felt so excited and nervous- until I thought something.

Was this a date?

No, it couldn't be. Why would he ask me? I thought he liked someone else, or at least that's what I heard from some other people.

But they also thought he did drugs, and he doesn't.

After a few more glances towards him and and the end of Geometry, I wasn't in a rush to leave. I put my stuff in my bag kind of slowly, but not enough to raise suspicion with my teacher.

I knew Aaron was waiting for me somewhat, I could tell by the expression on his face last time I looked.

Could he tell I liked him yet? I giggled inside at the thought. If he couldn't tell and he still asked me to meet him at the park, then gosh, he was bold.

Making sure all my stuff was in my bag and my lunch bag was in my hand, I turned around. And of course, Aaron was waiting for me.

I couldn't help a small smile as I walked over to him, and we walked out into the hallway together, but we didn't talk for a bit.

As we neared my next class, which he (unfortunately) wasn't apart of, I noticed he knew exactly where my class was, because he stopped before I did.

People had practically become a crowd around us, weaving around us like a group of fish.

I spoke first.

"So... this is my class..." I nervously tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear.

"Yeah... it is," he smiled at me. "You should get going, I'm sure a friend of yours wants to talk to you."

I stared at him for a moment, my heart feeling like it stopped beating when I saw his smile, but I had to tear my gaze away. Looking inside the room, I saw my best friend roll her eyes before waving me towards her.

"Yeah... I guess she does," I said, kind of distracted, my mind going into a million directions of thoughts.

"I'm gonna go to my class, don't embarrass yourself drifting off into your thoughts again, alright?" My gaze immediately turned to him, noticing how he had known. I blushed a little in embarrassment, but smiled at him.

"I'll do my best," I told him, and turned to go into the classroom. Just as I was about to walk inside, a hug engulfed me from behind and I froze, the butterflies in my stomach came at practically full throttle and I knew who it was.

All too quickly, the hug disappeared, and when I turned around, I saw him get engulfed by the students that surrounded us. A hand came out of nowhere and tugged on mine, bringing me inside the room as I continued to try to watch Aaron leave.

To be honest, I was kind of disappointed he had left, but I turned my head back to my best friend, Myah, as she dragged me over to our desk with a curious look on her face.

Class had started, and my History teacher started writing the agenda for the day on the board. She whispered to me.

"Wasn't that Aaron?" I nodded, blushing a little. "And... he hugged you? What does that mean? Are you two in a relationship or something?" Myah kept drilling questions into me, and instead of saying the answers, I took out a piece of paper and started writing in pencil.

I'm not sure why he hugged me, but I'm totally okay with that. No, we're not in a relationship... but I think he's bringing me on a date.

She grabbed the paper when she knew I was done, and read it quickly. She then started writing with her pencil, and when she was done she passed it back to me.

You're going on a DATE? With AARON? Did you ask or did he? Does he know you like him?

I started writing again.

Lol yes, with Aaron. He asked me through a note, and when I looked up, he smiled at me. And I don't know if he knows that, but if he doesn't know and he still asked me, that's really bold.

Myah took my note and nodded, smiling, an excited look on her face. I'm sure she wanted the date to come faster.

After all my classes were over, and the school day was done, I headed over to the busses, and got on.

Tonight, I'm going on my very first date.
