Puppy Love

Going around the room, I looked at just about everything. I was just so... curious!

It was all new, and the people around me were so nice to me.

I sat on the ground, attempting to look cute in front of those people.

The people looked down on me, one was smaller than the rest. The person had short hair, and the things on her body weren't... attached to her, but they surrounded her like they were hanging onto her.

I let out a quiet noise, and the small person got a "adored" look on their face.

I think the person is what they call... a girl? I'm not sure, but that's what I'll call her.

I let out the same noise, and she leaned down to pick me up. I didn't notice at all when the older people went to tell her off in a condescending tone.

All I could feel is her warmth surrounding me, and I was happy.

I hugged the puppy in my arms, and my gosh was she warm! Mom told me not to pick her up, but I did it anyway. What would she do- lick me?

As a 10 year old, my mission is to hold all of the puppies I can get my hands on. Well, as long as they were nice and cute.

Any dog is cute, what am I thinking?

"Mom, we're keeping her, right?" asked my brother. He's 15, and he's much taller than me. I'm like 4'11", and Mom told me I'd grow taller like mom and dad are.

"We need to make sure she can live here happily and not want to go back to her previous home-" I then interrupted mom.

"I don't think she wants to go back." I then cooed to the puppy, I named her Cookie in my head, short for Cookie Dough.

Cookie was curled up in my arms, she had fallen asleep after I held her for a bit.

"Are you sure?" Dad asked.

"Yeah, she fell asleep right in my arms," I said with a smile, looking down at the young, sleeping, German Shepherd puppy.
