"Mmmh, this is some good meat" Brad licked his fingers and smacked his lips.
"Only the best for my soon to be best friend" Robert pat his back and they laughed.
"Honestly, this is so good" Helena commented, " where did you even get this"
"That's a family secret, I can't let anyone know" Robert smirked at her " we are in the middle of an apocalypse"
"Well wherever you got this, your cooking is amazing" Tyler added
Emily stopped mid-way about to eat then she put it back down and stood up from the table where they were eating.
"I'm not very hungry" she said.
"What's wrong?" Dave asked
"Nothing, just lost my appetite" just then, David ran down the stairs and stopped in front of her.
"Emily" he smiled and hugged her, his head a little above her stomach. She hugged him back, smiling
"David, why don't we go outside?" his face lit up and he hopped outside.
Once they were outside, she grabbed his arm and squatted to his level.
"That isn't animal flesh, is it?" she had this harsh look in her eyes and a look of hurt spread across his face. He tugged her hand off him and ran away.
"Hey!, wait" she stood up and ran after him. For someone that small, he ran really fast. He ran like he knew exactly where he was going, jumping over rocks and making sharp turns. By the time he stopped, Emily was already out of breath.
She put a hand on his shoulder while trying to catch her breath.
"My mum and I used to come here every morning when I was little" he said not looking at her. She looked up and saw the sun just above a lake, its light making it sparkle.
"It's beautiful" he turned back to her and looked into her eyes
"I never wanted this Emily, and I wish it could stop. I wish everything could go back to before zombies but I know better now. I know things can never go back to the way they were."
"Don't say that David" a tear rolled down his cheek and he quickly wiped it away.
"Please, don't hate me" she looked at his sad eyes and held him tight, hugging him. "he's going to poison them"

"I'm coming, I wanna get something to top this delicious meal" Robert said, standing up from his seat.
"You're just full of surprises aren't you" Lucy said with a mouth full of meat.
"I'd like to keep my guests happy before they leave" he smiled at her and walked out.
"Speaking of which" Dave said " we're leaving after this meal"
"Oh come on, do you have to always spoil the fun" Brad whined
"We all know we can't stay here forever. We still have to make it to Michigan"
"Can't we stay a little longer?" Lucy asked
"No and that's final" he gave her a stern look
"Fine" she huffed and turned back to her food
"Let's make a toast" Robert said, walking into the room with a jug in hand. "To new friends"
"Thanks so much Robert." he turned to him with a smile then quickly dropped it "We'll be leaving after this though and you're welcome to join us. We could really use your truck outside."
