Lucy ran back, following the path where the others were. Once she saw them from a distance she picked up the pace.
Looking back, she saw the zombies following her and Emily running just behind her, with widened eyes and a tearstained face.
"Please!" Emily pleaded at a smirking Lucy.
Lucy wanted to turn away but her smile faded once the tears started to roll down Emily's cheeks.
"I hate being good" she said as she aimed her gun at the zombies clawing at her feet and fired.
She ran to her, still shooting and dragged her up.
"I hope you're ready to run" she said and took off.
As the both them came closer to the rest, Dave pointed at a little house made of wood.
"In there!" He shouted as they ran into it, easily opening the door.
By the time Lucy and Emily had gotten close enough, they saw Brad motioning them to run in as he opened the door wide.
They ran in and he immediately closed the door. The rest already had furniture with them and they barricaded the door.
Once they put as many furniture as possible in front, they gasped for air, heart pounding and feeling exhausted.
"Do you think it will hold?" Helena asked and as if on cue, a hand broke through the wooden wall, followed by the shrieks of the zombies.
Emily screamed and hugged Lucy. With disgust written on her face, she peeled a reluctant Emily off her body.
"Oh no, what are we going to do, man?" Brad asked, looking at Dave, worried. Three other hands broke through the wall again, with another scream from Emily.
"I don't know, but we have to think fast" Dave said, looking around.
"There has to be somewhere around here" Ruby said as she walked around the old building.
They heard a creak from under Tyler as he stepped unto a rug. He bent down and removed the rug to reveal a trap door.
"Guys, in here" he said, opening it. They all rushed inside and slammed it shut just as the zombies broke through the wall.
As they walked down the stairs to the basement, they were greeted by the awful smell of dead rats.
"What is that?" Ruby asked, her hand over her nose.
"Keep it down, we don't want them finding out we're here" Helena said.
They all walked to a corner were the smell was overcome by paint cans and sat down in a circle.
The basement was dark but their eyes adjusted to see it stocked with garden tools and boxes.
"You guys" Brad whispered as he opened a box and found it partly filled with canned sardines and bottle water. "Food"
