Eli nervously gulped as he got into Hudson's bed, but this time with Hudson. He nearly keened over when he realized that Hudson was going to sleep only in his boxers. Hudson noticed Eli's tomato red face and he chuckled slightly before turning back to being serious. "Would you prefer if I slept in sweatpants?" Hudson asked.Eli was having a huge dilemma. On one hand, he would definitely feel much more comfortable sharing a bed with him if he was wearing pants. But on the other hand, this could be the only time he could see Hudson with so little amount of clothing on. He took a deep breath as he made his decision. "No no, it's okay."
Hudson turned on some music to drown out the storm outside. He felt better having someone with him during this. Most people say that they feel safer when there is someone with them during storms. But for Hudson, the fear of storms wasn't because he didn't feel safe. He was just never comforter during a storm.
Hudson cowered under his covers, big blobs of tears dripping down his face as he shook at the thunder outside.
Downstairs, his mom and dad were arguing over something that shouldn't be more important than their son, but apparently to them it was.
The creepy shadows that were casted on Hudson's ceiling made him get up and run out of the room and down the stairs. He sat on the stairwell, peeking through the bars at his mom and dad arguing. His dad's eyes flickered up and saw Hudson.
"Hudson please. It's late, you have to be in bed." He said softly. He may have said it in a soft and gentle tone but the paternal love wasn't present.
"But dad I-
Hudson was cut off with a sigh. "Hudson I'm not going to tell you again. Go to bed."
As soon as Hudson was out of sight, his parents argument continued. And Hudson was left alone, hiding under his blankets and trying to be strong for his stuffed animal who he could tell was 'very scared and had to be protected'.
This happened every night there was a storm, Hudson being too afraid to even try to talk to his parents about it. And he never got over the fear.
"Hudson?" Eli took a risk and spoke up, interrupting the song that was playing.
Hudson hummed in response, his eyes closed.
Eli stared up at the ceiling, debating whether or not if he should say what's on his mind. "What's gonna—what's gonna happen when we go back to school?"
