Nick was glad to see that his questioning room wasn't how it looked in the movies. He sat on a couch, not a folding chair and he wasn't cuffed to a metal table with a light shining in his face. Even with this relaxing room he couldn't stop his leg from bouncing. The muscular lady sat down opposite of him, a clipboard in hand with a pen in the other. She looked up at him before speaking. "Okay, I am going to need you to tell me what happened."
Nick froze. Didn't they already know? Why else would he be in there? "I-I don't wanna say." Nick stammered. He could see that she must get this reaction a lot because almost as if she were a robot she spoke again.
"I know this is hard, but you need to tell us." Her eyes were nothing like Mrs. G's. They held no tenderness. Her eyes were cold and solid, she's merely doing her job whereas Mrs. G actually cared.
"I don't have to tell you anything. You can't make me." Nick said, clenching down on his teeth. He could hear as she sighed but she recovered quickly, probably used to this type of reaction.
"Nick, I am trying to help you, but in order for me to do that you need to talk." She brought out sympathetic words and her eyes morphed to ones that were a little more caring.
"What am I even supposed to tell you? You already arrested them! Doesn't that mean you already know?" He bounced his knee anxiously, wanting to get up and walk around or pull a cigarette from his pocket.
"Nick, they are not arrested, we only brought them in for now but they would not comply and come to the station willingly. That's why they were cuffed." She began to explain. "I need to hear what you told your school's nurse."
Nick wanted to get mad, to flip the table and snap her stupid clipboard in half, but he knew she was right. He could do this. He only had to say this once and then it will be over for him and for Eli. He took a shuddering breath and glanced at the officer quickly. "They hurt me and my brother."
She nodded but requested more information. "The more information we have to easier it will be to put them on trial. How did they hurt you?"
Nick's heart was racing just talking about as much as he did, he felt like he'd have an actual heart attack if he had to say more. "Uh...I mean, like, s-she would y'know hit me or burn me and stuff." He said before quickly speaking again. "A-and my brother! She would hurt him too."
She nodded, jotting down his statements onto her paper. "You said 'she', what about your father?"
Nick was tense. He had told this officer more than he told Ms. G but he didn't know if he could answer her question. "I-I can't say."
