"That was amazing dueling, Joey!" "Yeah, I guess so... But despite that kids attitude, he didn't deserve that fate." His face turns to gloom as he see's the stone of mine. "You're right, Joey. I don't know what's wrong with Kaiba to do this, but... At least he has paramedics on sight." "Yeah. For his own doings." I walk off, mad. "Joey, wait up!" "What is it, Yuge?" He sighs, confidence deflated. "Listen, Joey. You can be mad at Kaiba for this and so am I, but you need to focus. If you want to reach your dream, then you'll have to force through it! Who knows what will happen to Duel Monsters once Kaiba quits!" "Wait, what?" My eyes force wide open, a little shocked to the statement. "What do you mean when he quits?" "Joey... Tristan told me that this is Kaiba's final tournament... The reason he's hosting it is because... The finals is going to be his final duel." My jaw drops. Kaiba? Seto Kaiba? Quit Duel Monsters?! I thought I would never see the day... "But Yuge... Why would he quit?" "Joey... You seem a little defeated?" "If I lose the tournament now... I'll never show that creep that I'm not a 3rd rate duelist!" "Joey, did you really take those remarks to heart?" I can't help but sit down in the hallway floor, putting my hand on my forehead. My head is throbbing. "Its kind of hard not too when the spoiled snob is always saying it..." Yugi seems shocked. "Nothing gets to you though, Joey... You never let anything stand in your way..." "Well tings' have changed, Yuge. Not all of us have grown up for the better..." "Um, excuse me. But are you two alright?" I turn around to see a blonde kid in a blue hoodie. He has a strange reddish-pink duel disk with a dragons wing etched into its card-placer. "Who are you?" I say a bit coldly. "Joey, thats rude!" "Oh, its fine." He raises his hand to his chest. "My name is Caydence Gaiden. A fellow contender in the Qualifiers." I sigh, a little frustrated about how this kid is butting in. He couldn't be older than fourteen. "Listen, kid. I'm not in the mood for niceties. Not right now." I walk past him, steaming. Yugi frantically tries to apologize in a panic. "I'm sorry, Caydence! He's normally a nice guy, he's just mad about something personal!" I turn around to Yugi shaking the kids hand with both of his. The kid seems really confused. "Its okay. I understand, I really do. I hope things work out for you!" He yells out to me. I almost shake it off and ignore him, but theres no reason for me to be bad... "Thanks... But Yugi and I were going. Later, Caydence." I begin walking away, and Yugi jogs over to me. "Alright! See you all later!" He waves to us as we go. "He was just trying to help, Joey..." "I know... Thats why I let off..." I sigh deeply, thinking about this new information. Why would Kaiba quit dueling so suddenly? Why did he disappear for months on end? I guess this is a mystery I can only solve through winning this tournament. But to do that... One way or another I'm going to have to go through Yugi... That alone is going to be the hardest thing I've ever had to face. At Duelist Kingdom I got so close with my Black Skull Dragon... I was doing so well, but at every point Yugi was one step ahead. He always kept his cool through the duel, no matter what... I was so close, but then my own attempt at a win boosted his Dark Magician into the Dark Sage, he was able to win despite everything... "Joey, why did you suddenly get so quiet?" He asks, taking a seat in the lobby. I follow behind. "I'm just thinking about old times... And how all of it is ending..."
