Its round five and things are starting to get stale. Earlier Yugi and I tried asking if we could watch the matches but they said yes, but only if you want disqualified. The reason is that apparently we can get insight into our opponents decks before a match, which is understandable. "Hey. You two." I look over and jump from my chair almost as I see Derek again. "Derek, its you? Are you alright?" "Yeah, are you?!" Yugi copies. "Heh... Yeah, it didn't hurt that bad, I just panicked... I woke up only a few minutes ago and they let me leave the med-bay after some checkup. But anyway, the reason I came to talk to you two is that I wanted to apologize for how I acted during the duel... I was just... A bit mad that you didn't think I was important enough to show up on time and... I also get fired up for any duel so when those two mix-" "Its okay, kid. I get it." "Joey was honestly worried about you!" "Hey! You didn't have to go tellin' him!" Yugi is right, though. I've been kind of worried in the awkward silence that was this lobby. Yugi was worried about that girl, too. She still hasn't come back out though... "Thats... Weird, Joey. I wouldn't think you to be the type. So are you two really friends, Yugi?" Yugi looks perplexed to the question, but responds accordingly. "Of course. Why?" "Joey said you were, and I had a hard time believing him. But... Since we got time... I have a favor to ask of you." "What is it?" I'm worried as to what this favor could be. "Yugi, I've always wanted to duel you. You've been the most talented duelist I've ever witnessed and I was really excited to get that chance through this tournament. But even with you being in my Qualifiers... I still lost." Yugi takes some time to think it over. I have a question of my own. "Would we even have time for that?" "Yes, if its a 4000 lifepoint duel." "Hm..." He's still thinking. "Where would you two do it? Just in here or what?" "I would suppose in front of the Emporium so we don't bother anybody." Yugi scratches his head, finally responding. "Yes, but only on one condition." "What is that?" "Joey is your partner in this duel. I'm not leaving him here alone." Derek looks almost shocked to the fact, and honestly even I am a little jumpy to the sudden volunteering. I wasn't expecting this. But to be honest, I've been itching for a duel for awhile. It's been a couple hours. "I accept your offer, Yugi." "Good. Joey, are you ready?" Honestly, no. But maybe this will help me get over my fear of dueling Yugi. "I suppose so, Yuge. Lets go." I stand up switching my duel disk's scale to 4000 instead of 8000. They follow behind. "Joey, why so quickly?" "I don't want to accidentally miss a match again, Yuge. So lets go." I begin to speed walk to the door, stepping outside. The temperature rises. I look down and see a small grass line between the Emporium and the sidewalk I didn't notice before. I guess there is enough room to do it out here. They also step outside, Derek getting beside me and Yugi across. "Alright, Yuge. I will admit I wasn't exactly ready to face you yet, but I guess I have no choice." Yugi smirks from the other side of the grass. "Its okay, Joey. This is more of a practice match between us. Right now, this is more between me and Derek." "Right!" He says rather loudly, preparing his duel disk. I do as well. Dereks does the fancy spin again, and it makes me back up a little. "Its time to duel! Since this is a handicap, I'll go first! I draw!" Yugi looks at his cards closely. I draw my first five. Black Dragon's Chick, Rocket Warrior, Flamvell Guard, Level Up!, and lastly Comrade Swordsman of Landstar. Not my best hand. Too many monsters. "I discard one card from my hand, allowing me to summon Apprentice Illusion Magician! When this card is summoned, I get to add one Dark Magician to my hand! Then, I set a card and end my turn. You can choose among yourselves who goes next." I nod, and Derek turns to me. "I'm not ready yet. You go first." "Okay. I draw!" Insect Queen? I thought I took her out? Oh well, I guess I'll get some defense against that Illusion Magician for us. As a team, we share lifepoints and a field. This is rather unfortunate, but maybe Derek will save us. "I set a monster in defense mode and end my turn!" "Then its mine again." Yugi says confidently. "I hope you two are ready. I draw." He studies the card. "I summon Infernal Dragon! And then I set a card. Infernal Dragon, destroy his face-down monster!" My Flamvell Guard appears, but his hide of 2000 Defense is the exact same strength of his Infernal Dragon! Since my monster is in defense mode, the attack is blocked! "Hm. Very well! I'll just take it out with my monsters next turn. Infernal Dragon's effect activates. Since my dragon attacked, he is now destroyed!" I smile. It seems were in good fortune for now. "Your turn, Derek." I exclaim. "Right! I won't lose again!"
