The whimsical coloring of the trees outside my trailer is a beautiful thing to wake up to. In the days since my chat with Liam, I have remembered four separate things.
I remembered singing karaoke in a bar with Liam while we were in Ireland together.
I remembered getting my tattoo, and how Liam held my hand throughout.
I remembered being mobbed by fans after my second book was published.
I remembered attending Anne and Robin's wedding, Harry's mom and stepdad.
But that's all. It's been just over a month since the accident and that's all I've gotten back. I've watched the leaves change and the days grow shorter patiently, finally accepting what's happened.
But on the bright side, Liam is visiting me today. I don't remember what country he is coming from, but he'll be here around noon.
I get up and make myself some tea. I wrap my cold fingers around the mug and drink is delicately. I love to just sit in front of my window and watch the autumn breeze ruffle the leaves. I've opened and closed that one document on my laptop so many times, it's almost routine. I fear my next book will never be finished.
Tiger purrs on my lap and I gently stroke her fur. I'm beginning to get sick of staying in the same place all the time, but I don't know where I am to be honest and I'm terrified of getting lost.
I watch television until Liam arrives. A typical yellow taxi drops him of just before noon. I greet him with a hug.
Somehow, we began to fall back in love.
We aren't quite to the kissing stage yet, but I think it'll be soon. He never stopped loving me, I just had to learn to love him again.
"How's tour going?" I ask, handing him a warm mug of tea.
"It's so much fun, but I haven't had a proper sleep in weeks." He says.
He pouts his lips and I laugh, getting lost in his big brown doe eyes. I realize now how much I've missed him. We've talked on the phone sparingly and the last time he visited was in the beginning of September.
"How long are you staying?" I ask.
"I've got to leave tomorrow afternoon." He says.
I nod, "So you're sleeping here tonight, then?"
"I suppose I am." He says and his eyes crinkle with his smile.
I put my mug by the sink and turn to face Liam.
"So what should we do?" I ask.
He takes a sip of tea and thinks for a minute, "The lake is probably freezing but we could swim."
He ponder his thought for a minute, swimming isn't on my to-do list at the moment, but it's Liam and he's been through so much these past few months.
"Sure." I go to the bathroom and put on my bathing suit, careful not to pick a light color just to be safe. I find a black bikini and it's not too risqué.
I come out and Liam's jaw literally drops. Mine does too, but I'm better at hiding it. He took off his shirt and jeans, leaving him in only his boxers. My eye instantly go to a place I wish they wouldn't. I can't help but stare at his toned muscles. I advert my eyes. I get two towels and put my hair in a bun while we walk to the lake.
There's a few pontoons going around the lake, but no one is in it.
"We're so dumb." I say, looking into the dark water.
"Hey, you agreed!" He says back.
"I know, but it looks cold." I say. I stick my toe in and jump back.
"Oh no, nuh uh, not happening, no-" my words are cut off as Liam impatiently grabs my hand and jumps into the water, pulling me down right along with him. I scream but he doesn't take notice, he's laughing so hard his face is red.
The first initial feeling was cold. Then it grew and grew until it was even colder. My legs hurt to tread the water and I feel like an ice cube.
"Holy shit." Me teeth chatter. Liam's breathing hard.
"We better not get hypothermia or I'm suing your frozen ass." I gulp and swim over to the dock. I hold on the the wooden planks and help keep most of my body out of the water.
"Why did you agree to this?" Liam swims over and does the same, keeping his upper half out of the water.
"Why are we not getting out?" I ask him, smiling to show I'm not really mad.
"Because we're proper idiots."
"Objection! I wasn't getting in but you grabbed my hand and took off."
"You didn't try to pull away." He points out.
"I didn't have time! You're freaking fast." I say. I get out of the water and run to where I dropped out towels. I wrap one around my shoulders quickly, handing the other one to Liam once he's out, too.
"That was stupid."
"Really stupid."
