"Tell us your biggest darkest secret!" Nagisa asked.
Is this the time to tell them? What other time would there be? This was probably the last time where we could be in private.
"Okay, I'll tell you." I said. "The truth is, Nagisa, Haru, Makato, I've already knew you before the day when you saw me swimming in the pool for the first time." I said.
Everyone's eyes widened, including Rei's.
"We met at the swim club many years ago. I lived in the same town as Rin so we both transferred together so he wouldn't be alone. Then we met you guys and we started to swim together. Before Rin left for Australia I had gone away without telling you guys."
I felt tears rolling down my cheeks.
"But before I did, you guys gave me this swim cap." I then pulled out my cap from my swimsuit. "You guys wrote you favorite quotes on it. We said, 'if we ever get separated or torn apart, when we all see this swim cap again we would remember what we did before." I tossed it into the middle of the circle.
"But if course now it's useless." I then put my head in my knees.
"We're so sorry Hibiki!" Nagisa said, clinging on to me.
"We should have never forgotten!" Makato said.
"Hibiki, sorry." Haruka said.
"I was surprised when you didn't recognize me or the cap. Gou did though and she brought me to Rin. He recognized me." I told them.
"It doesn't matter now." I started to say, brushing Nagisa off.
"Because after this trip, I will no longer be in this swim club." Everyone gasped.
"But why!" Rei asked.
"I made a bet using you guys and I lost. I'm not even supposed to be here. Now because I lost the bet, I am now apart of the Samazuka Swim Club." I said.
"So the bet was with Rin?" Haruka asked. I looked up at him and nodded. I then stood up and turned to walk away.
"Where are you going?" Rei asked.
"I'm going back to the tents." I said. "But you would have to swim across the ocean to do that!" Nagisa said.
"I know." I replied.
"But it's still raining outside!" Makato said.
"The thunder and lightning stopped, and the ocean has probably calmed down by now." I said. I then walked out of the room. I made my way back to where I could see the part of the shore with our tents on it on the other island. I then walked into the water and then went on my stomach.
What was I going to do now? The others probably hate me for making a bet with Rin. They don't even know the details of the bet.
The waves were still high but I was able to swim through them. The rain didn't bother me at all. I got tired of doing freestyle so I went on my back and floated in the ocean. I looked up at the sky and the rain had stopped. Painted all across the sky was thousands of stars.
"Wow."I whispered to myself. I then flipped on my stomach and put myself up vertically. I looked into the water and saw the light from the stars reflect of it's surface. It was stunning.
It made me....happy.
I smiled at my reflection in the water. When I look at the reflection in the water, it looks like I'm swimming in the sky.
I then felt a sensation of joy running through my head. The water felt like it was grabbing on to me, making me comfortable. This feeling was amazing.
I want to feel like this all the time. Is this what Haruka meant by free? I think I could stay here for hours and not have the will to leave.
But I started to swim off anyway, I knew I had to go back to the island. But, on my way back I swam a relaxed backstroke, so I could look at the stars.
I didn't realize I was crying until my vision got blurry. Why was I crying? I don't know if I'm sad or happy. Maybe it's because I've finally found out what being free really means.
No worries, no weight to lift on my shoulders. I felt at peace. Maybe right now, I could die here and feel happy. But, after a while of floating on my back my paradise ended with the rising sun. When I looked at it, it was also beautiful.
It was like, beautiful things can be replace with new beautiful things. I then reached the shore and I saw the tents.
I was so tired from staying up almost all night. So, I laid down right there in the sand. I might get a bad sunburn, but I figure that part out later.
"Hey, what are you doing?" I heard a familiar voice say. I opened my eyes and saw Rin here.
"Oh, what are you doing here?" I asked. I then sat up.
"Just a morning run, what are you doing sleeping in the sand, you might get a sunburn." He said while extending his hand out to me.
"Well, let's just say a incident happened last night and me and the guys got washed up on the island over there." I said pointing to the island.
"And you swam back here?" He asked. I nodded.
"Do want too get something to eat with me?" He asked me.
"Oh, um sure. Just let me put some clothes on okay?" I asked. I then ran to my tent and grabbed blue jeans and a white shirt.
I put them on quickly so I wouldn't keep Rin waiting. I then ran with him the rest of they way.
