Free to Dissapear (Iwatobi Swim Club) [Completed]

Part 14

I was standing in my relay line for Prefectuals. At the last minute I was put in it, swimming free. The event didn't say Men or Woman's so people usually put only men in it because they think Men are the fastest. But not today, I was put in the relay. Me. A girl. When we got to our lanes I noticed we were swimming right next to Iwatobi. Looks like I was racing against Haruka. I knew what to do. The first racers hopped into the water and I looked for Rin and Nitori. I found them standing on the side of the deck. I waved to them but only Nitori waved back. Oh yeah, right. I forgot to tell Rin about Iwatobi participating in the relay. Whoops. "Go!" The announcer said. The racers started. I watched as more people dived off the block from my team. Then finally, the Butterfly swimmer was making his last lap. I got up on the block and adjusted my goggles. I looked over at Haruka and he noticed Rin. But then he got ready to go too. I watche as my teammate came in close and closer. He then touched the wall and I went flying off. I dived into the water and dolphin kicked my way up to the surface. I then started to move my arms fast, pushing me towards the other wall. I turned, gaining more distance. I sped up. What surprised me is when I took a breath, me and Haruka were looking each other in the eye. We then put our faces down in the water. The wall was coming closer and I tried to gain distance ahead of Haruka. But at the last couple of seconds Haruka pulled ahead of me and touched the wall first. I touched it second. "We won!" The guys cheered. Even though I lost, I still had a smile on my face. I got up out of the pool while they were having a hug fest. It reminded me of the relay they had when they were kids. I walked up to them, interrupting their hug fest. "Nice work guys." I said. "H-Hibiki?" They all said. "Were you in the relay too?" Makato asked. "Yep, I was doing the free leg." Thier eyes widened even more. "A pleasure to race with you Haruka." I said grabbing his hand and shaking it. I then walked away back to my team.
