Jade

i woke up in my own bed, slowly remembering last night's events.

i smiled. it feels like i really got matthew back. maybe i won't have a bad time this winter break after all.

i did my morning routine once again like every other morning and as soon as i opened my door, i saw matthew, waiting outside my door on his phone.

"oh hey! i was just about to wake you up," he happily said looking up from his phone.

"oh really, why?" i chuckled, shutting my door beginning to walk down the stairs.

"we should hang out today, anything you want," matthew offered following me downstairs.

"a movie! we should watch a movie! i was supposed to yesterday with dylan but plans got messed up," i proposed.

"not my fault! my girlfriend needed me," dylan sighed as i entered the kitchen.

i playfully rolled my eyes taking a seat at the island.

"well, can i pick the movie?" matt inquired.

"sure, nothing romantic or cheesy though," i hate those movies.

-

"hello, two tickets for the notebook please!" matt's voice beamed.

i playfully hit his shoulder. the notebook is an exception though. i don't mind.

"what?" he grinned as if he knew he was breaking my rule.

i shook my head jokingly and followed him to the theater.

as we entered, it was completely empty. it was the last day of the notebook reshowing, so everybody probably already watched it.

"middle row!" i yelled at matt, running to a perfectly centered seat.

he laughed as he sat next to me. i reached into my pockets and pulled out a few gusher pouches from last night.

"jade! seriously?" he asked me while watching me pull them out.

i shrugged my shoulders. then suddenly, he pulled out the oreos and cheeto puffs we never opened from last night.

"that's why you brought a backpack! i thought that was strange,"

he smiled at me and faced the screen. i did the same, until he subtly put up the arm rest and scooted closer to me.

closer.

closer.

then his left arm went around me.

i immediately pulled it off. why does he keep doing this?

"friends don't do that, matthew."

"good thing, we're best friends," he repeated his action.

it's not like i didn't like his arm around me. it's just every time, we're like this. i think about the girl in the room. or the girl he saw after our "date." or all the other girls he hooks up and hangs out with.

i don't know why. i'm not jealous though. i could never be.

-

we're an hour into the movie, and i'm in a position where my right leg is over matthew's left leg. his arm is around me and my right hand is holding his. oh yeah, and we're kissing.

this is weird. he's moving so fast. i should've respected myself and stopped but he just kept caressing my waist and cupping my face. his lips were soft and tasted like strawberries.
