ch. 16 ; wasted
Jade
it was saturday night, meaning it was time for cameron's party.
(bold is the text convo)
jade (bet) ; what time does the party start?
it already started, stupid ; cameron
jade (bet) ; oh shoot
jade (bet) ; whooshhh
i was already dressed and ready, so i guess i should go and ask kristen for a ride to cameron's place.
"hey girl!" kristen greeted me as i walked into the kitchen.
"hey! i was wondering if i could get a ride from you?"
"yeah, i didn't know you were already so popular that you were getting invited everywhere. where to?" she asked me, reaching for her car keys.
"do you know cam-" i stopped because matt was at the bottom of the stairs clearing his throat.
"don't worry about it, kristen! i can take her, we're going to the same place anyways," matthew said taking his keys off the kitchen table.
"we are?" i said perplexed.
"yeah, cam is my best friend. wouldn't miss his party for the world. kristen tell mom and dad, please. thank you, love you!" he shouted as he went out the door carrying his jacket and keys.
"bye kristen!" i said afterwards following matthew.
"less than one week, and look how social you're being!" matthew pointed out, unlocking his door.
"i mean, what can i say?" i said narcissistically while hopping into the passengers seat.
"well i get what they would like about you," matthew smiled pulling out of the driveway.
i just turned my face to look out the window so he would see how hard i was blushing right now.
-
we arrived at cameron's house and it was also huge! was every californian house huge like this?
"just stay around with me, i don't want any weirdos coming onto you," matthew took my hand and intertwined our fingers.
ugh, friends never do this. not even best friends. matt and i... what are we?
"jade!" cam called out my name causing me to turn around.
he had a simple graphic white tee and some ripped black jeans with vans. he looked good. and smelled good too. he had a red solo cup in one hand and opened his arms for a hug.
so i let go of matthew's hand and got pulled into his hug. he squeezed for a few seconds before pulling back.
"follow me, there's a lot of people, i want you to meet!" cam told me tugging on my arm.
"uh, i was just going to chill with matthew," i told him trying to not be awkward.
"where is he?" cam asked.
i was confused until i turned around to see that matthew wasn't there anymore. i kept scanning the room in hopes to find him but he just wasn't there.
"maybe, you'll run into him later, c'mon!" he began walking towards a huge group of people.
"hey guys! this is jade!" cam introduced me to the group, but i wasn't paying any attention. my eyes still scanned the room to see if i could find matthew around here.
