Sunlight and Freedom

The sun doesn't shine so we can weep
Under the shadows of life
Spinning webs of distress
Across our withering hearts.

It is there to lead us down the path
Where weeds secretly wield thorns
And beauty is contaminated by deceit.
Flowers that can no longer bloom or grow
On this road covered in hidden traps
Leading to our demise.

Still, we must give it a chance
The ground may clear up at the end
To show us the good in this cruel world.
Twisted vines may soon leave us be
Replaced with a warm breeze
Leading us to one more journey.

So before letting the light fade,
Look to the sun.
It will show you the way
To a place where we can all breathe
And finally be free.
