A/N: I seriously did not expect this to have any votes or two hundred views but I have decided that I will once again start working on this story I started a year ago! Thank you for reading!
                              Perks: Lightweight, Saboteur, Premonition, Self-care
It was strangely quiet on the map but the silence was all too familiar the longer Jake stayed in this area. Of course it felt like he was alone and he doubted that there was another survivor around. A killer? Possibly... most likely. He hoped that the Entity wasn't just toying with him and this was just an accident.
But this was... somewhat a missmatch. Usually all four survivors would appear unless the fog sent someone too late and the match started but Jake hadn't seen anyone on his way to Haddonfield. It was strange. Eerily quiet. And he didn't like it.
The leaves and twigs beneath Jake's feet crunched quietly as he walked alone in the mist. It wasn't thicker nor thinner but having a thicker mist was a lot better since he would be harder to spot. Same goes for small killers. His green coat didn't provide great camouflage but it was better than most clothing... the colourful clothing.
Jake stopped to look around. He wasn't quite behind a building but he was close to one that had a basement. Not the dungeon but a regular basement. A dark building with a garage and a fireplace inside. It had a few lockers inside, an occasional generator, and maybe a chest. Still, Jake was outside next to the hedges, scanning for any signs of life... as in survivors. Would the killers count? He wasn't sure but there was none to be seen.
He sighed and mumbled to himself. "Two gens... two gens and I get a hatch play." He was very disappointed in his situation. Three survivors in one match was bad enough but one? One? A single hook would kill him! that was a free win for the killer!
The solo survivor didn't want to give up however, entering the building and going downstairs to look for a generator. There were boxes here, three lockers, a dull totem, and a pallet. No gen.
Jake sighed again and decided to plop down on the stairs. He might as well let the killer find him. If there was a killer here. He heard no lullabies, no snoring, no gurgling, no wheezing, no... breathing.
Jake stilled on his seat and he heard the muffled, quiet breathing. Through the mouth or through the nose, he couldn't tell but he had heard it many times before. Close calls in hiding in lockers, in corners, and in shadows or tall grass in Macmillan Estate. The only map that provided enough shadow for him to blend in. He didn't have Claudette's or that new guy's ability to blend into everything.
The breathing continued and he wished that he had brought in spine chill instead of premonition. This was Michael. And tier one Michael could not trump premonition.
Jake held in his breath and he didn't move as if staying as still as a statue would mean the killer won't see him but he was just sitting on the staircase. The path being blocked by his figure. He cursed internally.
Michael Myers however, was simply staring down at the survivor wearing a green jacket. All muddied up and dirty. The survivor's hair was a bird's nest and he knew that Jake had a face of someone who would scowl at everything if he could. Smirking whenever the survivor sabotaged a trap or a hook. Michael assumed that Jake liked to do those things but he could never place why the guy had calm spirit as one of his perks. Maybe it was because he was used to being alone?
It did make sense the guy was to build up resilience and he thought that Jake was one of the best survivors. Other than David. The guy was a madman. Entering matches injured and taking hits like he loved the pain... but he was never Michael's type.
The killer watched Jake for a little longer before he looked at the gap between the wall and the survivor. It was just narrow enough for him to fit through and he decided to walk down to Jake before slowly sitting down on the same level of stairs. Both barely touched each other's shoulders and Michael knew that Jake was ready to jump and sprint away as if he had sprint burst. The guy never ran sprint burst.
As much as Jake wanted to book it, hide in a locker, wait, and go do gens to get out, he stayed on his spot which he thought was a very stupid idea. Michael was right beside him. So close that he could hear that breathing more clearly. He shivered then, his body finally aware of how cold it was in the fog. Had it always been cold from the start, he wasn't sure but it was like he was in that freezer room in Gideon Meat Plant.
The two continued to sit there in awkward silence. Michael, not going for the stab at Jake, and Jake, not running away from Michael. Jake was very much aware that there was a pallet just the corner of the stairs but he knew Michael can't get him without having his Evil Within to tier three. That was how the killer worked... right?
He frowned and slowly crossed his fingers together, confused and also a bit scared why Michael was just sitting there. A glance towards Michael told Jake that the killer was just staring ahead and not raking up points for stalking him.
Jake risked to turn his head and properly look at Michael. His brows in a confused angle, now furrowing from slight annoyance. "What are you doing?" He finally asked after gathering some courage to do so.
The killer turned his head to Jake but not slowly or too quickly, though, the mask still unsettled the survivor. Both stared at each other for a couple moments. Jake not realising that Michael never talked, he grew annoyed and gritted his teeth. "At least say something before you kill me! This is already unfair without anyone else around! And the hatch can't even spawn unless I do two gens! There's only four on the map and you can easily wander around stalking me!"
Jake had already stood up by now with his fists clenched, complaining at Michael who remained seated. The silent killer only stared at Jake before slowly standing up in his full height. Blinded by annoyance and anger, Jake stayed there for a moment too long and was grabbed by Michael.
