Chapter Fifteen

Ricky's POV

I stood there, frozen as she sat there crying. I slid down to the floor and wrapped my arms around her. "I'm so, so sorry" I said to her as she cried into my chest. I didn't know what to do or what to say but I figured she would want to go and see her sister.

"I'll take you to see her if you want" I said, it was the least I could do after I got angry at her for something out of her control. She smiled at me weakly and went to get ready.

While she went to get ready I felt so guilty, she is obviously really close to her sister.

She came back down and I drove her to the hospital her sister was staying in. She ran down the corridor to the lift, "I had no idea you could run that fast." I said to her as the doors closed, a smirk appeared on her face for a second before the frown reappeared.

I held out my hand and she took it as the doors opened, we walked into the ward and she started squeezing my hand.

She saw her sister and ran up to her bed and broke down in tears. I didn't realise how young she was. I thought she was much older, 16 or 17 maybe. But she was seven.

A nurse came over and explained what happened.

"She was found unconscious on the floor in the flat, it was made aware to the police when neighbours heard shouting and swearing followed by screams." The nurse explained before going on to another patient.

Kate's sadness quickly turned to anger. "Why her? Why couldn't it have been me instead?" She said angrily.

"Don't say that. Neither of you deserve this." I said pulling her closer, she was trying desperately hard not to start crying again.

The doctors said she will be okay to leave in a few days time, they just want to keep an eye on her.

"We could take her" I said on the way home. Her head abruptly turned in my direction. "Really?" Kate asked smiling "are you sure?"

"I'm absolutely sure. I know how close you are to Hollie and I know you try to keep her safe as much as possible." 

She beamed, "thank you so much!" She hugged my free arm.

When we got home she jumped on me with her legs wrapped around my waist.

She kissed me on the lips before jumping back down.
