"Do you have a girlfriend?", I stiffened and looked at my nephew. Why was he asking this? I put on a smile once I recovered from my shock.

"No, I don't have a girlfriend and I don't plan on having one soon. Why do you ask? He was small and I kneeled down to be eye-level with him. How old was he again? Four or five? I lost track over the years but loved him, anyways.

The little boy hesitated and looked at the ground, fidgeting and clearly uncomfortable. "Hey, what is it? Did anyone tell you something?" I asked with a frown and he shook his head.

"Papa said you won't have a girlfriend... but why?" He looked at me with sad eyes, then gasped and his eyes went wide. "Did someone break your heart and now you can't love anymore?" He asked frightened. I just chuckled.

"No, my heart isn't broken, don't worry. It's just..." I looked away and thought about how I should tell him this. Then, I sat down cross-legged and he did the same opposite of me, looking at me expectantly.

"You know that your dad loves your mom, right?", he nodded eagerly. "Well, and sometimes two boys fall in love with each other. Or two girls," he stared at me with big eyes. "But, you know, most of the people out there think that's disgusting and that's why guys like those can't show their love in public," I tried to explain it as simply as possible and thought it might have been too complex for this little kid to understand when he stayed silent. But he spoke up soon.

"Why do they think it's disgusting? It's love, isn't it?" The smaller boy furrowed his eyebrows and looked at me confused.

"Yeah, it is love but people think it's not natural. But that's bull- that's not right." I remembered that there was a kid infront of me just in time to avoid swearing and making Mikey mad.

"And why don't you have a girlfriend?" He asked again, this time more confused than before.

"Well, you see, we're both boys, right?" He furrowed his eyebrows shortly, thinking about my question, then he nodded and looked at me again. "And if you like girls, the opposite sex, you're straight. But some people like the same sex. And people like me don't care which gender the other one has. They can fall in love with everyone." And again he stared at me with big eyes.

"You can fall in love with everyone?!" I bit my lip nervously but nodded. "That's so cool!" He beamed and I laughed - it was a relief.

"Gee, what are you doing?" Mikey asked and walked into the room. I looked up at him with puppy eyes. My brother picked up his son as he made grabby hands towards his dad.

"I just told your son about my sexuality." I explained and Mikey smiled. He was always supportive.

"Uncle Gee can fall in love with everyone!" The kid exclaimed and grinned excitedly. Mikey chuckled.

"Yeah, he always fell in love with everyone. Now, come on, do you wanna get the presents?" My younger brother asked and his son cheered. Christmas was always beautiful. Especially, if you could spend it with your family. I was just a bit down that one person in perticular wasn't here at this day...

When I walked in on my first day at the new school, I was trembling and biting my lip nervously. Why did they have to transfer me to another school?! It was unfair and I was so far away from my family! Ugh, I already hated it at the new school. But the principal was a good friend of mine, so maybe I would get a nice class.

"Gerard, there you are! Good to see you again, how are you?" The principal greeted me when I came into the teacher's room and put my things on the table. He had curly brown hair and sometimes looked a bit... dazed, but he was a nice guy and I liked him.
