Gerard sat in his hammock in his garden right underneath the big old tree; sunglasses on his nose, book in hand, and a cup of coffee standing on the table next to him. For once he was really enjoying the warm weather. After all, summer had been late that year and it was finally summer vacation and that meant, he didn't have to see any of the idiots from school.

Plus, his parents had left for a week to go and visit one of his aunts so Mikey had decided it was a good idea to spend the entire week with his girlfriend. Which left the house to Gerard.

And since no one was there, he didn't see the harm in sitting outside and reading his book instead of doing that in his bedroom.

This was the first time in a very long while that he felt truly relaxed and he reached over to his coffee cup again. Lifting it to his lips, he took a small sip and enjoyed the sound of the birds chirping for a second.

He set the cup down again and turned back to his book when the sliding door to the house opened. Instantly, Gerard's head snapped up again to stare at the person in question like a deer in headlights.

When he realized it was just his boyfriend, he sighed. "Frankie, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be on tour?"

"I am," Frank grumbled, letting the big duffle bag in his hand fall into the grass and setting his guitar case down before he went over to Gerard. He now wore that pout that made him look like a hurt puppy and made everyone take pity on him. Without saying a word, he crawled into the hammock and between Gerard's legs, lying down on his chest and hooking one leg over his waist.

Gerard quickly put his book aside and focused all his attention on his boyfriend, running a hand through his hair. "What happened, hm?" He said softly, gently rocking the hammock with one foot on the ground. "What made you so upset?"

Cuddling closer, Frank kept pouting. "Hambone is stupid."

Gerard couldn't help but chuckle at that. "What'd he do?" The next words, he couldn't understand. "What was that?"

"He said that Batman is shit!" Frank finally said, sitting up just a tiny bit to look at Gerard. "I mean, how dare he!"

At that, Gerard couldn't help but laugh.

Quickly, Frank slapped his arm. "Don't laugh! That's not funny!" With a huff, he flopped back down and hid his face in his boyfriend's shirt. "We got into a really big fight."

Gerard had finally calmed down and carded his hand through Frank's hair again, scratching his nails lightly over his scalp. "What about Pencey though?" He asked, keeping his voice low.

Frank sighed out in content and relaxed, closing his eyes. "I don't know if I even wanna keep going, to be honest."

"But I thought you enjoyed playing with Hambone and Shaun?" Reaching out, Gerard picked the cup of coffee up again but Frank quickly sat up and took it from him.

"Yeah, but, you know," he sipped, then scrunched his nose at the bitter taste, "when you're in a band, you need to get along with all of the people- and I like Shaun and Hambone, don't get me wrong, but..." he trailed off, placing the cup back on the table and taking Gerard's sunglasses instead, placing them on his own nose, "I think we fight too much for us to be in a band together. Maybe we should break the band up."

And the way he sat there; hands in his lap, shoulders slumped, and the saddest possible expression on his face, broke Gerard's heart. "But, baby," he said, brushing some hair away from his eyes and Frank instantly glanced up at him over the rim of the glasses, "you always had so much fun playing. Do you really wanna give that up now?"

Frank's gaze fell again and he huffed in frustration. "No, I don't. But-"

"Then keep going," Gerard said, then kissed the tip of his nose, "don't give up your dreams that easily, Frankie. Sometimes you gotta fight for the things you want."

With a blush and a small smile, Frank pressed a short kiss to his lips. "You're all I want, how come I didn't have to fight for you?"

Gerard giggled. "That's because your taste in men is fucking awful."

"Hey, I'm trying to flirt here- and that's not true!"

"Really?" Gerard raised an eyebrow at him. "You said Benjamin Cucumber was hot- he's not. Hot."

"His name is Benedict!" Now, Frank was worked up again; his mood swings were like fairy lights with a slack joint. "And he is, okay? He's really hot. Have you even seen him?"

Gerard rolled his eyes fondly. "Yes, because you made me watch Doctor Strange a billion times. I don't get why you like it that much, he's actually really lame-" He stopped when Frank pointed a finger at his nose.

"Don't you dare turn against me, too," he said, trying his hardest to look intimidating but since he was about 4'10, it didn't really work.

Just for the sake of it, Gerard held his hands up in defense. "Oh no, I'm so scared," he mocked in a monotonous voice, then quickly snatched his sunglasses back. Using the moment of distraction, he put his free hand on the back of Frank's neck and pulled him in, kissing him softly.

In an instant, all anger seemed to leave Frank and he melted into the kiss, wrapping both his arms around Gerard's neck. When he pulled away, Frank made sure to stay close enough and he put his forehead against Gerard's. "How can you always calm me down so easily?"

Gerard grinned dorkily, throwing his sunglasses into the vague direction of the table but he missed it, anyway. Then, something shot into his head. "I have a question."

With a bad feeling in his stomach, Frank leaned back. "What is it?"

"Okay, so," Gerard cleared his throat, "if Benji Counterbum-"

"Now you're doing it on purpose."

"No, I'm not, shut up. So, if Bennet Cumberbumble played Batman-"

Groaning, Frank settled back on his chest. "I hate you."

But Gerard couldn't help but laugh, wrapping his arms around Frank's shoulders. "No, you don't."

"Yes, I do."

"No, you don't."

He hesitated. "Maybe I don't."

"So, Pencey is still a thing?"

Frank shifted a bit, making himself more comfortable. "If Hambone doesn't start bitching about how Star Trek is better than Star Wars, then yes, Pencey is still a thing."

"Good," quickly, Gerard kissed the top of his head, "'cause I like seeing you play on stage. It's hot."

Rolling his eyes, Frank huffed once more. "So you really just want me for my body, huh?"

For a second, Gerard pretended to think about it, and he laughed when Frank shot a glare up at him. "Okay, okay," he chuckled, holding Frank tighter against his chest, "I don't only like you for your body. Your obsession with Bernard Coumperpart is actually pretty cute."

Groaning, Frank considered getting a new boyfriend.

But then again, he'd never find someone as geeky as Gerard, so he might as well keep the one he already had.

That didn't hold him back from being annoyed, though.

"You're a real idiot, Gerard."
