Chapter 17

*Kate's PoV*
I decided to go to a bar to get used to the city. And start remembering who the fuck is C...
"Hey cutie... May I offer you a drink?" Asked some random dude.
"No... I'm... I'm..." I knew what he was planning but I had no idea how to get rid of this.
"With me. Her GIRLFRIEND." Said the same tall girl from the hotel.
"Yes... That." I confirmed.
"Bummer... See you." Said the guy and left.
I exhaled loudly and the unknown girl laughed.
"If I have to save your ass again I swear I'll start asking for some kind of payment." She commented.
"How do you always know when I'm in trouble?" I asked.
"Let's say I'm an observer..." She smiled.
After a second of silence a crazy idea struck me.
"Are you C?" I asked.
"No... Sorry. I'll get going. Don't get into any more trouble..." She started leaving but I took her hand.
"Wait. What's your name?" I asked.
"Natalia. Yours?" She replied with her smile.
"Kate." I answered and let her go.
I don't know who the fuck she is... But she is beautiful.

Three days later I saw her again at Central Park. She was sitting in the floor with another girl whose face I couldn't see playing a guitar. I suppose that was her girlfriend so I decided not to bother.
"So... Kate... Where are you from?" Asked the guy next to me.
"A small town on Colorado... Nothing much. You?" I answered not caring.
"New Jersey... I decided to move and live my own life here... Why are you in this huge city?"
"Just knowing the place... My friends gave me this trip after I graduated." I explained.
"Awesome. May I show you around?" He offered.
"Sure... I'd be honored." I smiled.
"Hear that Chief? We have a new adventure buddy!" He said to his dog.
Chief is a very adorable dog and James (this dude) has been very polite and cheerful since I started petting his dog... Half an hour ago.
"Wanna go to a coffee shop?" He asked.
"Sure!" I got up and followed him through the streets of busy New York.
We went to a typical cafeteria and ordered two cappuccinos and sat down to keep talking about or lives.
"So you are a banker..." I commented.
"It's a casual job... Mostly a pain in the ass but naturally like any job here." He smiled. "What are you doing?"
"I have just finished studying architecture and I'm planning on getting a job at a company at home." I explained.
"So you are an artist." He inquired.
"Not exactly, I chose this career so that I could help those without a place in the world." I felt like my answer didn't refer to people but to me.
"That's really good from you. I wish there were more people like you." He commented finishing his coffee.
"You don't. Trust me." I laughed.
"Why tho?"
"I... Tend to have memory loss.. It has been a pain in the ass." I said.
"It's nothing. Even if you forgot your whole life, you'd still be a good person so..."
"Point for the dog dude." I clapped with a smile.
We started walking around and saw a poster on a wall.
The east bar masquerade.
THIS FRIDAY at The East Bar
With awesome bands.
Entrance: $10

James looked at me with a wide smile.
"Wanna go to a party?" He asked.
I smiled back.
It's party night.

I put my green mask in my bag and walked to James place which was a couple of blocks from the party.
We were ready to party.

*Chrissy's PoV*
After a month, we finally got a place to play our original music! We were hyped.
Against the Current at The East Bar's masquerade.
When we got called to play there we immediately went to buy our outfits. Let's say that dressing up is one of my favorite things to do so if I can do it AND get paid for it... I basically pushed the guys to a mask shop.
Now we were in fully black with red masks covering half of our faces. Will's covered from his nose down, Dan's covered the left side of his face, and mine covered almost all of my face, except the tip of my nose and my mouth.
Two lucky jumps. We were ready.
"Hello! We are Against the Current and we hope you like our original music!" Introduced Dan as we took our place on stage.
Will started with the rhythm and after a few beats I started singing.

Do you remember feeling invincible?
When there was trouble it was us against the world

Dan joined me with his guitar. I kept singing my heart out.

We kept running, running through the night

I started dancing and singing with more passion every note. I took a deep breath so that I could enter the chorus with energy.

I went to the front of the stage and motivated the crowd to clap to the beat. I am in my happy place.
Even when this song was for Kate.

*Kate's PoV*
I don't know who this guys were but they were so damn good. Especially the lead singer. Her voice is beautiful. It jumped, it turned, it had energy. She had energy. Seeing her on stage was something unique, she motivated the crowd just by looking at then. My heart started beating faster at the chorus. I have heard this voice before.

You left me out there with no one but myself

I felt like every fiber of myself screamed for her. I felt like what she sang was only for me. I felt like if she was singing to me. Who the fuck is she?

The song went to a second energy shot and she got ready to jump her ass off.

My heart beats faster every second. This girl is magical.

She did another strong chorus making me jump with her.  I'm under her spell.

She stopped singing after she repeater the chorus, and I... I'm obsessed with this song.

"Those guys were great. Come let's go to the front." James didn't gave me time to react since he was already waling to the stage.

The concert ended and I was full of sweat from all the jumping and screaming I did. My heart was still beating fast even though the speakers were back to chill music. My body was still feeling as if it were complete... After 5 years I felt complete.
Then the idea hit me.
What if she's C?
"I will congratulate the band." I screamed and started to look for an entrance to the backstage.
Somehow I got in and there they were, the guitarist and drummer were looking at me and the singer was turned around so I couldn't look to her face. Or her mask whatever.
"Hey..." I said like a nerve wreck.
"Hi. Enjoyed the show?" The drummer asked me with a wide smile.
"Yeah I did." I touched the singer's shoulder asking her without words to turn around.
When our eyes met, I felt thousands of sparks everywhere.
"I really enjoyed your voice... You are awesome. What's your name?" I asked.
"Ehh... Jazmin." She answered nervous.
Her name starts with a J... No way she could be C.
Maybe I just got confused from the concert adrenaline.
"Nice name, I'm Kate. Nice to meet you." I presented myself with a wide smile.
"Great meeting you Kate, hey I gotta go now but thanks for coming to the show." As she said that she walked away.
I went back to James and continued to party.
Jazmin... I hope I see you sing again.
