*Kate's PoV*
Two months after the waking up.

Deep breath. This was going to happen sooner or later so let's get this done with.
"My mother... Was a beautiful woman..." I started my speech at her funeral.
On the bright side, she is in peace now... On the other side... I'm alone now.
I started crying at the end but managed to finish my speech in a decent mental state.
I sat down and waited for this to be over.
After the funeral I went to Soph's place and cried my eyes out.
Once I was calm again we started eating ice cream while we talked about random things.
"So... What will you do know?" She asked me.
"I'll take this year off and work my ass off to get my own place, and next year I'll start studying architecture." I explained.
"I still don't understand why you'll get your own place... Your house is nice." She tried to understand.
But she can't. She doesn't know what my father did to me... For almost two years...
What's weird is that I feel like if someone knows about him... I'm sure I told someone...
I can't seem to remember!
"I... just want to be independent... But it doesn't matter. What will you do?" I asked changing the subject.
"I'll study odontology and just chill." She told me.
"That's great." I commented.
Then we went silent. I don't know what I would do without my friends.

5 years later
"Katerine Taylor." Called the teacher from inside the room.
It's time for my last presentation of my university studies.

"I GRADUATED!" I yelled as I entered the pizzeria.
All my friends cheered and clapped while I sat down and took the menu in my hands.
But once again that feeling.
Since I woke up in that hospital 5 years ago I've felt like something is missing in my life. Or someone I don't know. I always get this feeling... Especially when I am with my friends, it's like if there's an empty chair on our table, but I haven't told anyone about this. What can I say? I love you guys but something is missing.
"KATE!" Yelled Nix.
"What?" I asked.
"We've been talking half an hour and you haven't said anything." Complained Jey.
"Shit guys sorry." I apologized.
"It's cool... Now... Your surprise..." Started Soph.
"After everything you've been through..." continued Tergel.
"We've bought you a ticket for a nice month at New York City!" Yelled everyone at the same time.
"You seriously did?!" I asked with the widest smile.
They just gave me an envelope, when I opened it and there was a plane ticket and a hotel reservation.
New York city.
A month from today.
Maybe a week alone will help me get my mind together.

The party ended and I got caught with Sophi.
"Kate... What's wrong?" She asked me.
"Nothing... I'm fine." I replied with a smile.
"And I'm Michelle Obama. What is wrong?" She insisted.
"Have you ever felt like something's missing in your life?" I asked.
"How so?" She asked back.
"Like. When you loose something but don't know what it is and still miss it? Like not knowing what but knowing that you're not complete?" I explained.
Soph stayed silent.
"Since when you have been feeling like this?" She spoke after a while.
"Since I woke up in the hospital... Years ago." I confessed.
"Well shit." She sat down on a bench.
She knows what's wrong. She has always known.
"What?" I asked.
"I wish I could tell you... But your father threatened us to never tell you the truth..." She looked at her hands in sign of regret.
"My dad? Why?"
"He said that it will be best for you if we kept that secret... But I knew it was wrong... I'm sorry." She cried a little.
"I understand... My dad is scary... But give me a clue of where to look for that missing piece." I begged.
"Your dad made sure your house got cleaned from it... I don't think you can find something there..." She drifted in her thoughts.
Fuck. What now?
"But I think I kept something... That might help... Let's go to my place." She said as if she just told me a huge secret.
"Sure." And with that an adventure started.
When we entered her home she ran to her bedroom. She locked the door and started looking for her memory box. Once she found her she started looking for something. Inside the folder where she kept her papers, until she screamed of joy.
"I KNEW I HAD ONE LEFT!" She stood up and went to me.
"Kate. This... I know it's nothing but it's what I could keep from your dad." She explained.
She gave me a small envelope which I opened quickly.
There was only a small letter. I hesitated whether or not read it.
"I hope this helps." She smiled with sadness.
I took a deep breath and started reading.
