Kate's P.O.V
I kissed Charlie as I got off the couch.
"Hey. How's your head? I bet you have a headache from drinking too much " he asked .
"I do. I'll go get some orange juice and aspirin" I sighed.
"No. I'll get it for you. I'm not as hungover as you are. Go put on some clothes, it's cold. " he said and got up.
"You're adorable Charlie " I smiled and kissed him for the 3rd time this morning.
"Not as adorable as you are" he winked and left to the kitchen.
I smiled and went to my room to have a bath and put on some clothes. I then went outside to have breakfast.
"What do you want to eat?" He asked.
"Just some toast" I said as I downed the pills with orange juice.
"Thanks" I said.
"Why? Are you going somewhere? " he asked.
"Shit I forgot to tell you. " I said and facepalmed.
"What, is everything ok? " he asked, worried.
"Yes yes. It's just that my holiday is over and I have to get back to work today. I rescheduled a very important surgery for today. It was yesterday but I postponed it. It's a major surgery which very few hospitals around the world offer to do. Plus, the cancer is rare too. It's a 48 hour long surgery" I sighed, thinking if how tired I will be afterwards.
"48 hours?! All in one go?" he asked, shocked.
"Yes. Me being the most senior and most qualified doctor at this hospital have to assist it all the way through. I'll get short breaks for sleep and eating, it's called breaking the scrub. I'll miss you so much." I said as I put jam on the toast. I put it down and started kissing Charlie, this time passionately.
"I'll miss you too. " he said as the kiss ended. "Good luck"
"Thanks " I said, out of breath. I took a bite of my breakfast and completely finished it the rest of it in quick bites.
"Love you Charlie " I said as I hurried out.
"Love you too Kate " he said.
I was extremely worried about our relationship. I was worried my job will have a bad affect on us,it already is. I'm can't do anything about it, I started up this huge hospital and this profession is my dream but I love Charlie. He goes out for days at his tours and concerts sometimes, I'm okay with that but ofcourse I miss him. I hope he understands. I snapped back to reality as I parked my car in front of the hospital and rushed in.
" Hi Dr. Parker " said the gjtl at the reception desk.
"Hi " I replied and smiled as I went further in.
"Cindy, go bring Dr. Browne and Dr.Melendez to my office asap. Tell Rosey to make sure OT 1 and 2 are both prepared for the surgery. " I said to a nurse as I went to my office.
I settled down and a while later Claire Browne and Neil Melendez, 2 of my very good surgeons came in. Dr. Browne was a surgical resident but she has exceptional qualities.
"Hi Dr. Parker " said Browne.
"Hello Doctor, welcome back " said Melendez and I smiled to both of their greetings and responded "Hi Dr.Browne a Dr. Melendez"
"So, any change in the Peter case? " I asked.
"His tumour grew bigger and has completely covered his nose now. Most of his mouth is also covered. We need to do the surgery as soon as possible. " said Browne.
