Snow spun around you, the cold stinging your cheeks. The howling of the wind was quite a different sound than you'd been hearing only seconds ago in the heat of a battle.⁣
"Y/n?" you heard Loki call, his voice panicked and barely reaching you over the wind.⁣
"H-Here!" you called back as loud as you could, barely being able to see more than a few feet in front of you due to the storm. ⁣
Loki suddenly appeared in front of you, using his magic to teleport to the sound of your voice.⁣
"Are you okay?" ⁣
"Yeah, yeah. I'm okay. What-how did we get here?"⁣
"I'm not sure. Whatever it was, it was definitely not the Bifrost."⁣
"It was instantaneous-we were fighting and then we're just here?"⁣
"This is Jotunheim."⁣
"That's-you destroyed Jotunheim!" you exclaimed in confusion.⁣
Loki grimaced like it wasn't something he was proud of. "Exactly," he continued slowly, having to yell to be heard over the wind. "This can't be real. It's a memory or an illusion of some sort." ⁣
"You're an expert in illusions, can you get us out of this one?" you shivered, the cold wind stinging your skin. You weren't exactly dressed for this, you were wearing battle armor not winter coats.⁣
"Hold on!" Loki shouted, a concentrated look taking over his features. ⁣
The white snow was freezing below your feet; the once powdery fluff hardening into crunchy ice. ⁣
He grabbed your hand and the illusion melted away, the two of you stumbling into the gardens in Odin's palace. ⁣
"Where did you come from?" Thor shouted, taking a step towards you. "Where have you been? When you two disappeared after the battle, we thought the worst. What happened?"⁣
"We got... trapped in a spell, an illusion of..."⁣
"Jotunheim," you filled in quietly, shaking from the cold that you could still feel.⁣
"Jotunheim?" Thor's tone was confused, "That doesn't make any sense. Why?"⁣
"We don't know," Loki told him.⁣
"It felt like we were only there for a few minutes. One second, we were both fighting in the battle and the next second we'd both ended up trapped in the illusion," you filled him in.⁣
"I'm glad you two are back home, then. It's been two weeks since you disappeared. We were going to have a funeral, but there were no bodies. We must tell everyone that you are back!" Thor smiled despite the conflict that had been taking over his mind earlier and patted Loki on the back.
"Two weeks?"
"It felt like two minutes!"
"Yes..." Thor frowned. "We'll have to look into this. It seems very random."
