The air was warm and humid as they stepped out into the tropical rain. It wasn't harsh rain, just a light, pleasant, drizzle. The moon was headed captive by the dusty grey clouds. The lack on moonlight made Keith frown.
"What's up?" Lance asked as the strolled back to their hotel after a delicious feast of sushi.
"Uhh walking.. How with you?" Keith replied as if it was obvious.
"No, no I mean what's got you down? You look upset" Lance chuckled at the adorable boy.
"Oh, no I'm not upset" It shocked Keith how well Lance could read him. Maybe lying wasn't the best option then.
"Keith, I can tell something's up" Lance pushed further.
"No its stup—" A firm but comforting hand grabbed his wrist making him stop in this tracks. They were stood under the luminous glow of the lamppost, the rain falling gently. The sound of waves meeting the shore could be heard in the near distance.
"You can tell me. I won't judge you, I promise" The warm radiating from Lances gaze was so genuine and comforting. Keith glanced down at the ground. Suddenly his arm felt heavy as he noticed Lance's hand still wrapped around his thin wrist. He tried his best not to shake.
"It's just the moon" Lance raised an eyebrow. Keith sighed. "I miss the moon, the clouds are hiding it"
A grin spread across Lance's face as he burst up laughing. Keith glared at the Cuban waiting for him to stop.
"Awhhh Keithy in love with the moon?" Lance cooed after catching his breath. Keith pouted.
"Fuck off, Lance" He mumbled as he tried to walk past the idiot.
"Wow, feisty kitty" Lance smirked. He grabbed the boys waist pulling him a little harder than expected. Their chests collided, faces inches apart.
"What the hell Lance?" Keith mumbled less aggressively than planned. The soft hand gripping his waist made him melt, Lance made him so soft and squishy.
Lance was frozen, he didn't know what to do. The rain falling around them picked up a little bit. His head was spinning, his heart rate speeding up. He didn't know what to do, so he did the only thing he could think of.
He kissed him.
It took a couple of seconds for Keith to processes what was happening. His mind went on overdrive, his heart pounding up a storm. Lance almost pulled away.
Then he kissed back.
It started off slow and sweet but before long, repressed desires started to build up. Lances hands found themselves under Keith's damp shirt, gripped the boys soft, warm hips. Keith's arms were wrapped around the sun-kissed neck of his longtime crush. His stomach did funny things as he pulled Lance impossibly close. The rain then suddenly stopped, that's when it all clicked in Lance's mind.
He just made out with his best friend, childhood best friend, neighbour, and childhood crush.
He pulled away catching Keith off guard. Keith looked confused as the searched the boy's shocked eyes. They stood there frozen for a seconds before Lance whispered an "I'm sorry"
Then he took off.
Keith tried calling out to him but the Cuban kept running.
"Lance" he whispered, his voice cracked, his heart broken. He suddenly felt cold and lonely. He decided to walk back to their hotel in hopes Lance would be there with a magically good explanation and a welcoming smile.

"Shit, no no no"
Keith searched his pockets, literally turning them inside out.
Lance has the keycard, and the spare ones inside.
Keith punched the door before falling to his knees and breaking down.

Sorry it's shorter than normal, oops.
They finally kissed though! Although it didn't end particularly great..
