Your steps echoed in the stone room, you went up the stairs and through the door leading into spiral tower, you reached the second level when you heard mumbling and books being tossed about. As you got closer, the sound of pages turning became louder.
"Nothing useful..." the voice say as a book went flying into the hall. "This information is wrong..." there goes another book. You try to dash across before you get smacked with a book, but that failed. A book hit you right in the ear.The book lands on its side, making a small boom. You inhale sharply holding the ear. The figure looked at you with the side of his eyes. "Inquisitor, you do know that's not how you read. Correct?" The mage turned to look at you, you did the same.
"You were throwing them, Dorian. And yes, I do know how to read books properly." You snarled a little and picked up the book."Ah, did I throw that one? Hmm sorry for that." He reached for the book. You shoved it into his chest.
"I'd rather you not do that this early. I can not bare your smart ass." You groaned in annoyance, the pain in your ear stared to fade away.
"But you can bare me any other time?" He smirked "Quite funny."
You rolled your eyes "Just do not do it again Dorian..." you left him and headed towards the War Room, feeling eyes watch you, it felt like needles going through your back.As soon as you opened the door Cassandra looked at you. "You're late." She spoke.
"I'm aware of that, I had to deal with a certain Tevinter." You rub the ear lightly.
"And this is why I do not agree with him roaming around, freely." Leliana spoke softly."Hush now we have more important business to discuss." Josephine sighed.
"Right." Cullen agreedYou gather around the table and listened to what they said, looking at the various propped buildings on the map.
"-alace, there's word of a ball being held there. If we can get in, we can have a chance to save the Empress. What do you say on this, Inquisitor?"
Josephine looked at you, but you weren't paying a lot of attention."Inquisitor!" They all say in unison, jerking you back to reality.
"What, what?!" You look at all of them.
Cassandra shakes her head and sighs.
"We understand it's early, but we need all the time we can get."
You just nod and try to focus again.
"How long will it take for the troops to get in, Commander?" You ask."About a few days to a week, it all depends on the security of the palace, which is pretty high with plenty of guards. There will be little blood shed but nothing that we haven't seen before." Cullen said triumphly.
"Good." You mumble.
The meeting ended, it gave you 2 weeks to prepare, it'll take Josephine and Leliana to get the invitation ready at least a few days. You left the War Room and went into the small open courtyard in the back. There was a stone bench under a large tree. It was cold but you just sat down and put your head against the bark of the old tree, closing your eyes and letting nature take you.
You woke up and it was late afternoon, the sun spotted through the leaves. You rub the sleep out of your eyes and stretch, feeling something on your lap. It was a book and an apple, Funny. You thought. Grabbing the book you examine it, it was the same book that Dorian threw at your ear.
The spine was worn and the pages were fuzzy and yellow from age. The front page was severely water damaged but inked on the page was a small note, the writing was pristine and neat.
"You know you can't listen to book so how about you read them? It's quite good if you give it a chance, but you're quite strange I/N (inquisitor name) I think that's what I enjoy about you. We should talk more, I'd love to know more about the ambitious Inquisitor we all look up too... except Bull, that is someone who looks down on you. It's quite hard to make jokes on paper and not hear the laughter."
