I opened my eyes drowsily and looked around. I noticed it was only 2 in the morning, which made me let out a frustrated sigh.

My shaky hands reached the nightstand, trying to get some water since I was feeling thirsty.

A strong hand stopped me suddenly from going any further. I looked up in confusion only to find Walid stand just by the side of the bed.

I retreated my hand and watched him take the jug and pour water for me in a glass. I sat up slowly and took the glass from him before drinking all of it.

"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be sleeping?" I asked, as he took the glass from me and put it back on the nightstand.

Earlier in the evening, after the incident on the bridge, Walid had hurried home. He was speeding so badly I had thought it would be my last day on earth.

I was shivering and freezing all the way back to the house. Even though he had heated up the car, I couldn't feel it. I only noticed it was hot in the car when I saw Walid's forehead forming sweat. Poor guy.

We hadn't spoken much on the way back, and once we reached, he told me to take a bath and get changed in warm clothes quickly or I would catch a cold.

I had listened to him silently and did as he had said. I wasn't feeling well and I knew by then that I had a fever. The headache and the soreness of my body during the whole day should've warned me, but I was so lost in thoughts that I hadn't paid much attention to it.

Once I had taken a warm bath, I had changed into my sleepwear and felt a lot better. Walid then brought me some medicine and I took it before wanting to do nothing else than sleep.

However, he wasn't happy with my decision and forced me to blow dry my hair. I had argued against it, I was too tired but he had like always found his way to make me listen.

He had watched me carefully when I blow dried my hair and once I was done, he had checked that every strand on my head was dry before letting me go to sleep.

I was annoyed, not understanding or knowing why he pretended to care. I knew him by now. He couldn't care for anyone...

"I remembered I had forgotten to close your window." His voice made me come back to present. My eyes moved to the window which was closed, before back to him. "Also, it's time for your medicine. Here." He added, taking the pills from the nightstand and handing them over.

"I'm not a baby I can take care of myself." I informed, but still taking the pills from him.

"I'm sure you can." He nodded.

I stared at him for a moment taking in his feature. My eyes wandered to his dark hair which was tidied to the side, as if he hadn't even put his head down on a pillow.

He was dressed in a pair of jeans and a shirt, not something I had guessed he slept in. He was full of energy, not like someone who just has woken up....had he even gone to sleep since we arrived?

"Did you not go to sleep?" I finally asked, confused.

"What do you mean?" He asked, watching me intensely as I gulped down the pills and water before putting away the glass.

I tried to hold my groggy eyes open and firm. "Why don't you take care of yourself? You need to take care of yourself. Go to sleep and rest."

"I will." He replied.

"Yeah." I let out, resting my head back on the pillow. I had a hard time keeping my eyes open so I closed them. "You scared me today." I said subconsciously.
