Kayleigh POV
I didn't realize how far from camp I actually was, and travelling up in the trees with banged up hands, and a burn on my arm definitely do me any favors.
I wasn't used to traveling this way, and it took more concentration, making sure I didn't fall out of the trees.
No matter how hard I tried my thoughts kept drifting to Bell, causing my chest to ache.Damnit Kayleigh stop! I screamed at myself.
Now is not the time. I need to warn the others.
"Get to camp, warn them." I said to myself over and over again, trying to ignore the feel of my heartbreaking.
Moving a little faster, I move from branch to branch, gripping onto vines, swinging into other trees where branches were too thin for me to stand on.
Just as I'm about to grab onto another vine, I hear a pain filled moan come from the ground. Stopping I look down trying to find the source of the noise. I stay quiet and still, but I don't hear anything anymore. Grabbing onto the vine I go to swing across when I hear it again, louder this time but it's too late. I'm already airborne, but I had no idea that the vine was weak until it snapped and down I went.
There was no time to scream, or to brace for impact. One minute I was in the trees, the next I'm falling back down to the ground.Landing on my back first I felt like I couldn't breathe, the wind knocked out of me, right before my head slams hard into the ground. I hear the groaning again and try to move my head, but pain shoots through me.
As my vision turns black I thought I saw Bell running up towards me. He looks like him.
Betrayed.
The word floats through my head before I give into darkness.
Third Person POV
"Where are they?" Raven questioned as her and Octavia walked through the woods in search of the missing trio. Bellamy walking a few feet ahead of them.
"We'll find them."
"Yeah? And what about Kayleigh"
"She knows how to handle herself. She knows these woods better than anyone. She's not missing.. She needed space."
But in her heart she knew something was wrong. Something set Kayleigh off, she only wished she knew what, but knew Kayleigh would tell her when she was ready.
"I thought you said you were heading west. Where are you?" Monty question over the radio
"Just keep the moon to your left, and you'll find us." Bellamy replied back, running a frustrated hand through his hair.
It wasn't enough that Clarke, Finn, and Myles were missing, now he had Kayleigh onto the top of that list.
"This morning, all I could think about was how much easier this would all be if Finn was just gone." Raven said under her breath but Octavia heard her.
"You didn't wish this into being, Raven. Stop torturing yourself." Octavia tried to reasure her
"Is anyone else hearing this signal?"
"Just keep your eyes open." Raven replied over the walkie this time.
"I think it's the same thing we heard in the black box."
"Damn it, Monty, pay attention." Bellamy snapped.
When he didn't hear a reply back, he radioed him again.
