      Third Person POV

"Kayleigh."

Hearing her name she turns around and comes face to face with John Murphy.

His eyes rake her head to toe from the braids in her hair, her scars and bruising on display, the grounder clothing she wore. John hadn't see or spoken to her since the night Finn died.

"This suits you, you've got the whole warrior princess thing going on." He lets out a sigh when she doesn't say anything just stares right through him.

When she turns to walk away Johns hand latches onto hers preventing her from going far. When the big male grounder with her stiffen he immediately drops his hand letting her go. "I'm sorry, about Finn.. I -"

"I know, you did what you could.. It wasn't your fault." She said quietly before taking position up against the wall the furtherst away from everyone, effectively ending the conversation.

John watched as Kayleigh walked away, a piece of his heart breaking for the girl who was more broken then he was.

It didn't take long for a fight to break out during Kanes motivational speech about working together. Kayleigh would've been content, staying off to the side, while the others fought, but one grounder by the name of Penn made a mistake.
He didn't know Kayleigh had moved behind him when he told Murphy he was going to burn just like his friend did. Kayleigh had the man on his knees before Murphy could take a swing at him. Before she could do any real harm to the man, her arms were pinned behind her back, and she was being forcibly removed from the room.

The fresh air from the outside did nothing to penetrate through the red haze of Kayleighs mind. She fought hard against the man dragging her around barely pausing to acknowledge to the pain in her back as Asher slams her up against the Ark.

"Calm down." Asher grunts at Kayleigh shoving her back against the Ark and holding her there.

"No!" She growled at him struggling to get her arms loose.

"Control yourself!" Asher snarled his grip on her becoming impossibly tighter.

"Fuck you!" Kayleigh snarled back at him. "He had no right-"

"He had every right! Your brother slaughtered eighteen innocent people, my brother was among the dead!"He roared at her bringing her closer, her struggles immediately stopped.
"You're not the only one to loose in this." He says roughly shoving her back against the metal.

"Why are you here? Is it because Lexa ordered you to be?"

"No, I'm not here because Lexa ordered me to be." He said looking back at her. "I saw the strength in you that day in the woods with the Maun men, I've seen it many times over since then." He says thinking back to the day he found her in the woods. "You have the makings of becoming a great warrior, even greater leader.. I saw that when you took a knife to that boys heart. You acted like a leader would, doing what was best for her people."

It falls quiet between the two for a few moments, before Kayleigh spoke up.

"I'm sorry, for what my brother did to yours." Kayleigh said quietly, head bowed down.

"This world isn't for the weak." He said brushing off her apology, causing her to look back up at him. "You need to think with this," he says tapping two fingers to his temple. "Being led by your emotions will only weaken you."
