"Hello Lee! It's so goo to see you again." said Finn's mom giving Lee a hug. "Hello Lee. I'm Finn's father." "Hello sir. It's nice to meet you." Finn grabbed Lee's arm and led her to the dinning table. They sat down and Finn held her hand under the table. "So I thought we could start off with salad and then move onto spaghetti and then I have some chocolate chip cookies int he oven right now. Does the sound good?" Everyone nodded in agreement.
The first 2/3 of dinner went well, everyone was engaging in some great conversation. But when the time came for desert things began to fall apart. "Okay so here is some cookies." said Finn's mom sitting down next to her husband. "So Lee," Finn said, "Earlier, on the train, you said you had something you wanted to tell me. What was it?" "Oh, this isn't such a great time to say." "Oh come on Lee. Please." said Finn, giving her puppy dog eyes. "Ugh fine." Lee sighed. "So you know how I don't want Chaz to come anywhere near me or my baby right?" "yeah." "Well, I don't want to leave the father spot blank on this kids birth certificate and I was wondering if maybe, you would want to be the other legal guardian to this baby?" "Wow." said Finn with a smile. "I- I would love to Lee." "Um," said his mom, "You will not."
"What?" Finn said shooting his mother a look. "You will not sign on as that child's father." "And why the hell not mom." said Finn. "Because, you are almost 15 years old, I will not have you become a father at 15." "Well, she's not asking you. She is asking me and I said yes." "No, I said you aren't and I mean it." Finn stood up in frustration. "What the fuck mom. You said that I should do whatever I could to help Lee out and now you turn around and say that you don't want me to sign on as this kid's dad." "What your tone young man." "What the hell is going on with you guys. Just an hour ago you guys were being so nice and supportive." Finn's parents looked at each other and then back to Finn. "You really wanna know?" said his mother, how was starting to get mad too. "Yeah." said Finn. "We think lee isn't good for you."
"What?!" said Finn, anger rang out in his voice. "We think she is irresponsible." said his mother. "Wow." said Lee. "Tell me," said Finn, "Tell me how she is irresponsible." "Okay, she is 14 and pregnant." "Way to assume that it's her fault." said Finn. "Babe, calm down." said Lee, placing her hand on his shoulder as she stood up. He sat down but Lee remained standing. "How is it not her fault." "It's a long story." said Lee. "I don't think it really is." said his mom. "You fucked around and now you are knocked up. It's not that hard to say. " "It's not like that at all." said Lee. "Then tell us." said Finn's mom. Lee was suddenly flooded with fear. "Tell us Lee, come on. Just spit it out." Lee felt tears well up in her eyes. "Say it!" Finn's mom said. Lee broke, "I WAS RAPED!" she screamed.
The room went quiet. Finn's family was taken aback. Lee saw Finn's face turn red and his fists were clenched. A tear fell down Lee's face as she sat back down. "And that's why I'm pregnant." she said quietly. "Wow," Finn's mom said. "Why didn't you fight the guy off?" said Finn's mother. "Are you shitting me Mom!" Finn cried. "Hey!" his father shouted, "What did I tell you about that tone." "You know what," said Lee standing up, "I should have never come." She pushed her chair under and headed for the door. Finn reached his arm out and stopped her, "Where are you going." "I can tell when I'm not wanted." Lee said shaking his hand from her arm and walking out of the door.
Finn's vision became blurred with tears. "I knew it." His mother said. "I knew she wasn't good enough for our little Finny boy." his mother said standing up and beginning to clear the table. "Oh dear, stop crying. You knew she wasn't the one for you." She said kissing Finn on the cheek. "Why did you do that?" Finn screamed. "Why the hell did you do that! She has been through so much bad shit in her life and you just out the cherry on top of her shit sundae." "FINN! Stop with the cursing!" his father boomed. "I expected so much better of you mother." Finn said. And with that, he followed Le's path out of the house.
It took her a second, but she found her way up to the roof of the house. She sat looking out over the roofs off Finn's neighbors and just cried silently. "I had a feeling you would be up here." said Finn sitting next to her. "How did you know?" Lee said whipping tears off of her face. "Well, that time when we were filming and your dad came back. Also, you left your shoes by the bottom of the tree." Lee let out a small laugh. "Look, don't listen to them." Finn said putting his arm around Lee. "I love you. And nothing they could say would change my mind of wanting to be this baby's legal dad." "Really?" Lee said "Yes," he said with a smile.
That night, Lee couldn't sleep. Everything that happened at dinner kept playing in her mind. Finally, she couldn't take it anymore. She pulled up her phone and found exactly what she needed. "I'm sorry Finn." she said.
The next morning, Finn was awoken by his parents. "Finn? Sweetie?" "What?" Finn said not quite awake yet. "We found this in the kitchen this morning." said his father. "It's a note from Lee." Suddenly, Finn was fully awake and sitting upright in his bed. He grabbed the note out of his mother's hand. It said:
Dear whoever saw this note first,
I have left. I found a train out of Vancouver. It left at 3:15 AM. I know this is not the most well mannered thing to do but I just couldn't stand being here or another minute. I am so sorry. And please tell Finn that this is not his fault. Please tell him that I love him and hopefully I will see him soon. And about last night, I apologize for the way I acted. I should have never said anything and if it is not what you guys want, then I will just ask Noah or Joe. Again, I am so sorry but it was for my own mental health. I hope you can all understand. Thank you for having me.
Lee Keery
Finn was heart broken. He knew that Lee said it wasn't his fault, but it was. I he would have never said that she should meet his parents it would have never happened. His parents! That's it! It's not his fault, it's his parent's fault. "We are sorry she left. But at least now you will get to spend more time with us!" His mother said. "No." "I'm sorry what?" "You heard me. I said no. I'm going back to LA. And I am signing those papers." "But sweetie, we are your family." "And Lee is my girlfriend. She means more to me than anyone else in the world and frankly, I don't blame her for leaving. You guys were assholes to her and I regret coming here." He grabbed his suitcase and zipped it up. "Good bye mother, good bye father, You'll hear from me." He rolled it out into the hall. "Or you won't" He slammed the door and grabbed Nick. "Where are we going?" he said, grabbing his keys. "You're gonna take me to the train station ant then I'm going home." "But you are home." Nick said. "No, this isn't my home. My home is with Lee."
