Evalin's aunt, Manon, had told her that in the war all witches from every clan had fought, either on their side or against. When the their enemies saw they had no chance against her army they fled like the cowards they were and that up until this day some were still in hiding.

It's not that Evalin didn't believe her aunt, it's more like she didn't want her to be right because if it were true and she was to face one she would have to kill them and it would feel somewhat wrong since witches were part of her family.

But now the witch and the wyvern were both coming at her and Zachary full speed. Evalin went to draw Goldryn from her back but it wasn't there, she forgot she had left it at home along with her daggers.

She let out a frustrated breath. Oh, rutting hell.

What?

She heard his voice in her head and gave him a quick glance before narrowing her eyes at him. Get out of my head wing boy. Then turned back to the witch.

I told you it's not my fault that your-

Yeah, yeah that my thoughts are too loud. They needed to get out of the way or the wyvern was going to bite their heads off or the witch could also do that. Spread your wings or winnow us out of the way before we die!

Zachary grabbed her hand and winnowed them to where the witch stood before trying to kill them. Both creatures stopped, startled that they had disappeared.

I know you are a badass, but I'm glad you still need me to save you. Zachary smirked.

I could have done it myself. She glared at him. I just didn't want to waste my energy when you could do all the work.

The witch turned to face them and glare at them with her wyvern at her side.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Evalin said to her when she saw that the witch was about to run towards them.

"And why is that?" The witch asked, her voice sweet, too sweet for a killing machine.

Evalin raised an eyebrow, "Do you have any idea of who I am?"

The witch tilted her head, the glare still on her face. "Does it look like I care?"

She heard Zachary stifle a laugh. I'm going to punch you so hard you'll be seeing stars.

I'm sorry. He chuckled. It's just that she has the same sass you do.

Then maybe you should go flirt with her as well and see if that gets her off our backs. She bit back at him, harsher than she'd expected.

She felt his power caress her arm. Is that jealousy I hear? He teased her.

As if. Was it though? Why was she jealous?

She turned her attention back to the dark haired witch. "My name is Evalin Galathynius Whitethorn." She smirked.

The witch looked her up and down and gave her a similar smirk. "You are a long way from home, Princess."

"Am I though?" She brought her right hand up and inspected her nails, "You see, King Dorian Havilliard Blackbeak is my uncle which means Adarlan is still part of my home," She glanced back at her. "Witch."

Her golden eyes so dark that you would think they were pitch black glared at her with hatred then she said, "Look, I didn't mean to pick a fight-" Evalin arched a brow and the witch grinned showing her iron teeth. "Not really. I'll go and you can continue telling your mate about the stories of the war." She turned around to mount the winged creature.
