The jewel wasn't anywhere near our campsite. "It must've fallen out somewhere else," Alex said dumbly.
"Where would it have fallen out?" I asked, putting my hand on my hip.
He shrugged and kept looking. I rolled my eyes and started to look again. After what seemed like hours, we gave up looking. "I don't understand," Dola said, "I swear I had it. I didn't go anywhere after we got out of the vans."
I took his hand and squeezed it. "It's alright," I said, "We'll find it"
He smiled at me. My phone started to ring, making me jump slightly. What the hell? Who could that be? I thought to myself as I took it out of my pocket. I looked to see that it was a random number. I reluctntly answered. "Hello?" I said shyly.
"Is this Lenora Crane?" a voice asked.
"It depends on who's asking," I said.
Melania raised an eyebrow at me. I shrugged before getting up to get some privacy. "It's Marcus Johnsan," he replied.
I clenched my fists. "What do you want?" I asked through clenched teeth.
Marcus Johnsan was our long time enemy. He led another group of theives, all of who were traitors to us. "I may or may not have a certain stolen jewel," he replied, "I was thinking of beinging it to the police an telling them where I had found it."
"How'd you get that jewel?" I asked.
"I have my ways," he replied, "Anyway, I'm willing to give the jewel back and keep my mouth shut if you do exactly what I say."
"What do you want me to do?" I asked.
"First, you and your crew have to meet me at the commons," he said, "Then I'll explain the rest"
I sighed. "Fine," I said without hesitation.
