She glared at me from where she was standing. "You bitch," she said before jumping into the van.

I backed up as far as I could and took a deep breath. Come on Lenora, I thought to myself, Just kick her and run.  I kicked her as she lunged at me. She fell back out of the van and that's when I made my move. I jumped out and ran for the other van that had our stuff in it. I had barely just reached the van when I was pushed onto the ground. I looked up to see Maya standing over me with a gun in her hand. "Did you think it would be that easy?" she asked.

"No," I said, "I knew it would be that easy"

From behind her, Alex threw her over his shoulder and brought her over to the other side of the first van. Using the time I had, I got up and swung open the van doors. I rummaged through our stuff before I found my handgun and Evanna's knife. I smiled and shook my head. This is too easy, I thought to myself.

Without much thought, I gave Evanna her knife and started to run towards where Alex and Maya were.  A gunshot rang through the air and I saw Alex's body collapse. I held back a sob as I rounded the corner. Alex lay on the ground, a puddle of blood surrounding him. I swallowed as I stared at his corpse. The bullet had entered right near where his heart was. Maya laughed. I looked up to see a smile had filled her face and her eyes filled with pride.  I clenched my fists as I rose my gun to aim at her.  She laughed again. "You won't shoot me," she said, raising her gun, "You'll sacrifice yourself to save the rest of your friends. To 'avenge' dear Alex here"

"How would you know?" I asked, "How would you know what I plan on doing? Why would I let you live knowing my friends would be in danger?"

"Why?" she asked, "Because you aren't worthy of living. Ever since the little incident at the museum, you have been a little shaken. Haven't you? You know that you deserved what happened"

My eyes widened and my heart started to race. "How do you know that?" I asked.

"Honey, we have connections everywhere," she replied, "Those guards you were trying to distract told us everything"

I clenched my jaw. "Shut up," I said.

"Make me," she replied with a smirk.

My breathing started to get heavy and my hands shook. She only laughed as she looked me right in the eyes. Only a few seconds later another gunshot rang out.
