Tom
I sat on the cold stone as the nuns of the Cathedral sung their hymns. Honestly it was always peaceful to hear them hence why I was there when the time came.

The Cathedral I lived in was pretty grand it was called St Mary's and was really old. Made of stone with beautiful decorations on the outside.

Yes. I lived in the Cathedral you heard right. Why? You might ask well that's easy. I'm a freak. Or so I've been called by the half a dozen people I have seen in my life. The only person who can see me and not be scared or not look at me with fear is Father. The Bishop.

Anyway, I was taken in by Father to live here. I'm a freak because of my eyes. They're black voids and I'm the only one out there that I know of who has these. I mean I can still see with them. It's annoying but where I live, ensures I don't have to come into contact with anyone.

I stood up as the sisters began to pray and made my way to my room. It wasn't anything special, I made it to fit what I wanted. A simple bed, curtains draping around it, a chest for clothes and a table to which I can draw at. I've been told I'm pretty good at it but I don't know if it's just father being nice. Though I have managed to sell a few, not me personally but ones hung around for people to look at.

I had my own personal balcony, it was huge and went around the whole of the Cathedral. Seeing as how it was very high, no one really saw me which I was was glad about.

I went to the balcony and sat on the ledge looking down at the people bustling about. I wouldn't be lying if I said I'm 100% happy with my life because in all honesty, I'm only around 30% happy. Who would be very happy if they had to be locked away from their own kind because they were different. Watching people come and go. Watching weddings and watching funerals. Watching families.

As I looked over the edge, I watched as a noble handed money to the beggars outside the Cathedral. Probably waiting for the food the Bishop generously hands.

I didn't think too much of it until I realised the noble were entering the Cathedral. He was surrounded by what looked to be guards which wouldn't surprise me. There usually were in this Cathedral, it was common. A lot of nobles attended the services here.

I sneaked out of my room and down the steps until I got to the balcony above the Cathedrals main room. I instantly saw Father talking to a boy looking to be around my age. He had horned hair and nice clothing but that's all I can see at the moment. There were a few guards stood nearby.

"It's nice to see you here young Larason."

"It's good to be here Father."

They both began speaking but I couldn't really make out what they were saying seeing as how they were being fairly quiet.

Then no sooner than they arrived, they left and Father left too. It was empty in the Hall which was pretty rare. I decided I wanted to be brave and so I quickly walked down.

I walked between the rows of pews, lightly touching them with my fingertips. I looked towards the alter but before I could make it a voice called out.

"Hello?"

It was the same voice from earlier. I froze.

"Excuse me?" They called again but before they could reach me I ran.

They kept calling me but i just carried on running. I walked up to the balcony and finally then looked back just to see thay same person stood at the bottom of the stairs. He looked shocked once he saw my face but didn't say anything. He looked like he was about to follow but Fathers voice called out to him before he could.

He looked hesitant to turn around but did after a moment and I went back up to my room.

Sighing as I sat back on the balcony watching the sun set.

When I looked down again, I saw that same noble. He looked up as if he could fee me staring but I ducked away and decided on sitting on my bed instead.

And as I sat and thought, one was running through my head.

I'm never taking that risk again.

Hi!!!

I deleted my other book that I started as I didn't really know what to write and how to continue the story. so I decided to write this story after watching The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

It's not exactly the same as The Hunchback but it's similar. All the credit goes to the creators!

Anyway thanks for reading!
