Tord
I sat staring out of my window. It was beautiful outside however I couldn't enjoy it. School work is a pain. Especially seeing as how I was doing home schooled work.My father being as prestigious as he is, refuses to have me attended a private school, never mind a public school. God forbid his only son going to an actual school and having actual friends. It would ruin his reputation, or so he says.
It's the sad truth but it's whatever, I've learned to live with it.
"Tord have you finished yet?" My professor asked as he walked back into my room.
I looked down at my half written essay and turned around sheepishly "yes?"
Mr Miles sighed as he came closer and held up the essay for him to read. "This is very standard Tord. You can do much better than this! I expect you to write this again but to a much higher standard."
"I'll do it tomorrow." I suggested.
"We're starting a new topic, our schedule is already behind enough as it is."
"Then I'll do it in the morning." I decided.
The professor looked unimpressed "aren't you forgetting that you are to start attending church."
My thoughts went immediately to the boy with the eyes. I wanted to see if father could let me talk to him.
Accepting my doom I got to writing my essay again under the watchful eye of the professor.
The next day, I was stood with my parents pretending to know exactly what we were singing. The service went as I expected really, pretty boring.
Once the service had ended, my parents went to socialise making me follow and listen. To show me "how it's done" in my fathers exact words.
The first people we walked up to was another family, a woman who clearly spent all night getting ready, a fine nobleman no doubt some kind of lawyer and a young girl around my age.
My dad being the mayor knows everyone and introduced me to this family "Tord id like you to meet a very respected Lawyer, Peter, his wife Mary and their daughter Mila. This is my son Tord." Pfft what a suck up.
I smiled politely hoping to get away ASAP however my dad had other plans. "Tord why don't you and Mila go and get refreshments while us adults talk."
I sighed but agreed nonetheless with a smile on my face. We walked towards the refreshments, Mila talking up a storm. Even though I'm 17, 18 in a few months. My father no doubt wants me to settle with someone. Possibly thinking the daughter of a high class lawyer will do just fine. I think not.
I zoned out on what Mila was saying and just looked around at the decor of the cathedral. Truly beautiful. A figure caught my eye, standing within the shadows the roofing casts. Just that like they were gone. I knew exactly who is was. So I quickly excused myself from Mila using the excuse to needing the bathroom.
I discreetly stepped past the "don't not trespass" sign. I know I said about respecting the sign but I need to talk to this boy. I rushed up the stairs in time to see him peek through a door before shutting it.
Heh this boy, it's almost as if he's inviting me up. So that's exactly what I did. I walked to that door and opened it which lead to more stairs.
Once up then stairs I came to a halt at the view. There was a room, sparking due to the hanging colourful ornaments.
"You shouldn't be here." A voice came making me jump.
"Well it seems as if you think differently." I turned to look at the boy peeking from the side of the door leading to what I assume was the balcony. "What's your name?"
I took a few steps forward as the boy stepped more into view "Thomas."
"Thomas." I repeated, liking the way it sounded. "I'm Tord."
"I know." He replied.
"Oh?" I walked closer to him until I was stood right in front of him "you have beautiful eyes." And just like that, his face turned crimson. Though I expected him to be bashful, he was in fact angry.
"You know you could tell the truth. I prefer people to be honest." He stalked towards the balcony setting his hands in fists.
"Well it's a good job I am being honest then isn't it."
"You're just saying that..."
"No I'm pretty sure I am being truthful."
He huffed "liar"
"Believe what you will but I know when I'm telling the truth."
He turned around a small smile on his face "you're persistent."
I laughed at that causing his smile to widen a bit "so I've been told."
Just like that, I think I now had a friend.
