Tord
Sometimes, I really did hate all the snobby nobles that inhabit this town. They walk around with their head held high, looking down at people below their status like their scum. It actually pisses me off.
As I'm walking behind a group of gentlemen I hear a bit of an uproar going on across the street. Me being nosy I take a peek, only to see a man being harassed by a bunch of kids with people just standing around watching. What a cruel world.
The man is hunched over, a crooked wooden cane laying on the ground near where he crouched. It looked as if he couldn't see it. Once he gave up with the kids nudging him, I could see his eyes glazed over white and I'd be damned if I wasn't to help him.
"Hey, back off kids." I walked up to them. They looked at me almost daring me to say something else. "Unless you want me to get my father, the mayor, involved."
With that they scurried off knowing they'd be doomed if they were to be found out.
"Are you okay sir?" I asked picking up his cane and putting it in his hands.
He looked in my sort of direction and nodded his head "thank you young man, I give you my blessing. I had forgotten my glasses today. I greatly appreciate your help."
The crowd dispersed as I smiled to myself. Well my good deed done for the day.
As if the mans words just hit me. My eyes widened. Then I ran. Straight to the Cathedral. Running up the stairs, I slammed open Toms door panting. "TOM!"
Tom looked startled at my outburst as he held a paintbrush in hand. "Tord? Wha-"
"I've just had he greatest idea!" I exclaimed walking closer to him and smiling. He put his paintbrush down and looked at me with a parted mouth. Nodding his head for me to continue.
"You can go outside!" I put my hands in the air grinning widely.
"Tord, you know-"
"Listen! If you get some sunglasses, you can hide your eyes while you're out!"
"I don't know." He looked unsure as I sat in the chair opposite him. "What if I fall of someone knocks them off? Then everyone will see me and I'll have no where to hide because everyone will surround me and then they'll see you wit me and they'll hate you-"
I reached over and took his hand "Tom look." He looked at me. "I won't let anything like that happen to you okay. I promise. We'll take it one step at a time."
He looked down the hand that was holding his and smiled "okay. I trust you."
"I have some sunglasses at home so I'll bring you some on Sunday. Then maybe we can go to my house or something. At least then you'll be in the comfort in my room and will only have to go a little distance in the company of others."
"Alright, sounds great."
Though he looked unsure, I was positive that he was going to be fine.
