Sean

Tristen was driving to my house and I was just sitting there in silence. I couldn't believe my mom was keeping this kind of secrets from me.

What could someone possibly have over her to make her do things so out of character for her. Why would someone even choose my mother to do anything for them. My mom had no pull, no strings to control so why would someone blackmail her.

"Sean, you good?" Alijah asked

"I'm just thinking. I left this life behind and now when I feel like when I've finally had a chance to start a new life, I get pulled right back in." I said

"Same." Tristen said.

"We can't run from what we're good at." Alijah said.

"But we can change it." I said.

Once we got to my moms house we parked a few houses down, and ran up to my door.

I unlocked it and we walked in. "Mom!" I said loudly.

Alijah turned on a light and Tristen locked the door behind us. "Sean, what are you doing here?" My mom asked walking down the stairs.

"We need to talk." I said and walked into the dinning room.

My mom sat down at the table and so did Tristen and Alijah. "What's wrong with you?" My mom asked

"Since when have you been speaking with an inmate mom?" I asked

"Excuse me?" She said

"Since when have you been getting phone calls from a prison? And a prison that Leon is in." I said

"What does that matter? And why are you all in my business" my mom asked

"Please. Spare me. I just wanna know, who and why?" I asked

"Sean. Theres just some things you won't ever understand." My mom said

"We tracked your phone calls." I said and held my hand out for Alijah to give me the vanilla folder.

"You What?" My mom said raising her voice.

"You've been getting phone calls from someone in prison for the last three months and it all started when you started this new job." I said putting the phone records on the table.

"Sean..." My mom said

"And you've been getting male visitors at your job, never the same guy as before." I said

"Sean, Listen..." My mom said

"You also have been getting deposits from an off shore bank account in the Bahamas over the past almost four months. Whose doing what to you?" I asked

"Dammit Sean Listen to me!" My mom said and I stopped talking.

"You have to drop this. No matter what you think or what you feel, you can't dig into this." My mom said

"I already did." I said and took our two other papers. "You have a large deposit of five hundred thousand dollars sent to you four years ago from the same off shore account when you said you inherited money from gram gram to pay for my college. You lied, who was the money really from?" I asked
