Twenty years later
Zadie
"Come on Piper, we gotta put the candles on daddy's cake." I said to my daughter. She ran to the draw and opened it grabbing the rainbow candles.
After I slid the cake out the package and place it on a cake plate, I put them on and lit them.
"Pist, dads in his office mama." My son Reggie said and whispered.
"Okay baby. Come on grab the balloons." I whispered
"Can I carry the cake?" Piper asked
"Of course just be careful." I said and handed her the cake. I walked behind them to my husbands office.
Tristen
I was sitting at my desk trying to figure out this new formula and send it over to the lab for testing. It was supposed to reduce the size of Kidney stones so that they can be passed without pain, but I couldn't get the shrinkage to last more then a few minutes.
"Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday Dear Daddy!!! Happy birthday too you!!!!" I heard my family sing and come around the corner. I smiled at them and got up to hug them.
"Daddy look at your cake." Piper asked. She was eight, and my Son Reggie was fourteen.
"Happy birthday to ya. Happy birthday too ya. Haaaaappppppyyyyyyy Birrrrrtttthhhhhhdayyyyyy!!!!" We all turned and saw my oldest daughter Faye singing as she walked in.
"Oh my God, Faye." I said and hugged her.
"Faye, baby your home." Zadie said and hugged her as well. Soon Piper and Reggie were hugging her too.
"Of course, we don't miss birthdays in this house. Right mama?" Faye said
"That's right." Zadie said and kissed my cheek.
"Ew. Come on, that's still gross." She said and bent down to hug her siblings fully.
"Thank you for not throwing me a huge surprise party in the house this year." I said to Zadie.
"Well after you got drunk and ended sleeping in the tool box last year. I figured it would be safer not too." Zadie said and smiled.
"Come on. CUT THE CAKE CUT THE CAKE!" Piper said jumping up and down.
"Let's go to the kitchen and cut it." I said and carried it into the kitchen.
Zadie got a knife out and rinsed it off while Faye went over to the cabinet and pulled out forks. "It's so dark in here and so gorgeous outside." Faye said and put down the forks.
"Well how about we go outside and enjoy it." Zadie said
"Yes! Pool dayyyy!" Reggie said stuffing cake in his mouth.
"Alright. Grab ya cake. Pool day it is." I said and Reggie and Faye cheered.
We walked out to the backyard. Faye slid the sliding doors and then we all walked out. Before I could even swallow I heard a loud scream of surprise. I jumped and almost swallowed my damn fork. I looked around and saw my whole family.
Alijah and his wife Lily and there three kids. Grey, Lennox and Rose. Sean and his wife Amie with there four kids. Tatum, Evie, Samaya, and Cora. And my brother with there girlfriends, all except Aiden, his Fiancé Luna was here and Aidens son. My mom was here, she never remarried but is dating a man named Eric, He's nice.
I looked out on my family and smiled. "You said not to throw you a surprise party in the house." Zadie said laughing.
"I'm gonna get you back for that." I said laughing and pulled my wife into a kiss.
