zero (o.) syd comes home

It was Syd, Cheryl and Jason. The trio were never that far from each other. If you saw one red head, there was another around the corner and a girl with dark brown hair a few feet away. At the beginning they weren't like this however. During elementary school the Blossom twins hated Syd.

It was just childhood hate though, not stemming from anywhere.

A situation with applesauce transpired and it looked as if they would remain enemies. But then Syd's house burned down. And the first place her family took shelter in was in thornhill. The Blossoms and The Simon's were partners in the syrup business after all.

After two long weeks, the children learned to become friends.

Not too long after the Simon's relocated to a new house, but that meant the children would see each other less. So they promised each other that they'd be friends forever and never leave each other's side.

And they never did.

As the years went by and the kids reached seventh grade they were the three peas in a pod. You saw one of the Blossoms and Syd wasn't too far away. They grew up and their friendship grew even greater. That was until a few months into seventh grade, Syd's Father died coming back from a business trip. Her mother, grief stricken, packed up everything they owned and moved farther upstate.

Syd was homeschooled and lonely. She was angry with her mother for moving them so far from her best friends. Not only that, for severing all ties with the Blossoms. She had changed her number, her address, everything. She was no longer allowed to talk to her best friends. Who had wanted to help in the funeral of her father.

A few months passed and Syd grew tired of being angry and instead just remained incomplete. Her grades were average at best and she just wasn't who she used to be. Her mother saw this and decided to transfer her into a public school for the last year of middle school thinking that would help her. But all that did was separate her more from her daughter.

She got into dentition a lot. Not for fighting. But for disobeying teachers, skipping class, not doing well in classes.

And then high school started and she almost failed freshman year. If it hadn't been for her mother's charm and money she'd have been the only 15 year old in ninth grade. But luckily she wasn't.

Over the summer Syd and her mother shared a bit of a heart to heart. Syd finally realized that she had been digging herself into a hole that only corruption could get her out of, and her mother realized just how broken her daughter was.

So her mother talked with her grandmother and came to a compromise. Syd would go back to Riverdale and stay with her grandmother for her sophomore year. She had to get her grades off the floor, help around with her grandmother's bakery, and most importantly stay clear of the Blossoms. And if she did well she would be able to stay for the foreseeable future.

Syd couldn't pack quick enough, and she thanked her mother for the opportunity. This is the story of a girl who ventured back home and realized that she missed a whole lot while she was gone. And that she was finally ready to fix herself.
