We first read a few poems about wearing a 'mask' and then we had a discussion where other students shared their reasons why. We now have to make a poem about how we do/dont wear a mask or why other people wear one

The Mask That I Wear

Everyone around us wears a mask
The reason why is what everyone ask
But I believe it's time to show you mine
The reason why I myself wear a mask

The mask is complicated or so I say
For why I wear it could change any day
But right here I drew my main reasons
That might never change in any which way

You see the bandage and brain on my head
Their reasons represent what I have said
The bandage is helpfulness, the brain is full of useless facts
That's what they mean, nothing can take their stead

We move on to the pair of eyes
Each have a different meaning and here is why
My left is serious, my right cages my sadness
Sad facts around the world that'll make me cry

Up next is blushing and cracks that are deep
The blushing marks shyness, not too cheap
The cracks are from breaking down, but I am fine
What follows are tears that I want to keep

The smile you see is what I usually show
It says that Im carefree, or so you know
I ignore everything, shut the world out
With the music I listen to on the go

Finally, the ghost at the bottom is a feeling
Its fear that Im afraid of revealing
Fear is always stopping me in my tracks
And when it shows up, its really unappealing

These are the reasons why I hide
It prevents others to see what's on the inside
Somethings we think how to break our mask
For when we do, we leave these thoughts behind
