Chapter 18: Fun on a day off

At a bowling alley, people were just bowling the day away, hitting pins, gettting strikes, spares and even gutter balls and entering the bowling alley was Abby, Andrew, Maddie, Mackenzie and Melissa.

"I can't wait to get a strike!" Maddie excitedly said.

"Ok, here are your shoes and Lane 5 is open and for the past seven years, we increased our player limits from four people to five people." The shoe person said as he got two sets of size 11 shoes and three sets of shoes that were Maddie, Mackenzie and Melissa's shoe size.

"Andrew, i've said it before and i'll say it again, you've got some big feet!" Mackenzie said, looking at Andrew's size 11 feet as they were putting on the bowling shoes they were given to use so they could bowl.

"Yep, i've been a size 11 since i was 14 years old." Andrew admitted. "Melissa, what are the other moms up to?"

"Christi and Chloe are at the arcade with Kelly, Brooke and Paige, Jill and Kendall are at a nail salon and Holly and Nia are just at home doing nothing."

"Oh, ok."

"It's bowling time!" Maddie said as the five all tied their shoes and walked on over to Lane 5 and Andrew went first at the suggestion of Melissa.

"Let me show you how the kingpin bowls!" Andrew grinned as he walked up to the lane after picking up a bowling ball that wasn't too heavy, or too light, but just the right size for him.

"We'll see who rules the game of bowling." Melissa chuckled at Andrew's confidence.

"Don't get too overconfident, that'll hurt you at the end!" Abby warned as she finished putting everyone's name in the computer.

"Mom, i got this." Andrew said as he let the ball go and it rolled to the left and went straight into the gutter and didn't hit a single pin as he had a stunned look on his face while Abby and Melissa were both chortling under their breaths. Andrew fumed as he got the ball when it came back up, but sadly for him he guttered yet again.

"That is what happens when you get to arrogant in bowling." Melissa stated after seeing Andrew gutter on his first attempt.

"Wa Wa Wa Wa Waaaaaaaaa! You Suck!" Maddie and Mackenzie both stated as they saw Andrew gutter again, then their taunting stopped when he glared at them.

"Watch it, that was only one gutter ball, thank you very much!" Andrew retorted.

"Well, you need to take your time when you bowl." Abby said as she picked up a bowling ball, wlaked up to the alley, then with a graceful release, the ball went sailing towards the pins all ten of them were knocked down. "Steeeeeeerike!"

"Great job, Mom!" Andrew stated as he and Abby High Fived, then Melissa's turn came up, she walked up to the lane and got a strike, even Maddie and Mackenzie both got strikes on their first attempt, then it was Andrew's turn again, sadly for him, the gutter ball curse continued to haunt him.

"I can't believe this..." Andrew muttered after guttering again as Abby, Melissa, Maddie and Mackenzie were trying not to laugh at his misfortunes in bowling. "Somebody must have rigged the game because i'm too cool to play."

They bowled through the day and the end of the game, the score was Abby 221, Melissa 190, Andrew 75, Maddie 119, and Mackenzie 135 and then they returned the bowling shoes and put on their normal shoes and walked out of the bowling alley.

"Can you believe i lost in bowling and got creamed by my own mother?" Andrew muttered under his breath as Maddie and Mackenzie snickered.

"Andrew, look at the bright side, you might not have had a good bowling game today, but you are good at dancing and other things, remember when you played one on one with Dwyane Wade and you dunked on him?" Melissa said, wrapping an arm around him.
