Frankie Bowling was a cheerleader she wasn't popular but everyone knew who she was mainly because she was nice to everybody. She had been best friends with Bucky Barnes since they were babies cause their moms had been best friends since high school...
"Hey Frankie.." Bucky said as he came up to her at her locker?'
"Oh hey Buck." she said
"Um do you still have all your art supplies?' he said
"You mean my craft stuff yeah?' she said
"Um I need your help with a Homecoming proposal for Courtney." he said
"oh..um yeah sure I can help." she said
"Ok great thanks so much I'll come over tonight with everything I bought for it." he said as he walked backwards then ran to meet Courtney the girl he had been talking to.
She looked down and said "Yeah sure..Frankie always helps you win the girl." to her self under her breathe.
She slammed her locker and walked to her Art History class. She walked by Bucky who was flirting with Courtney at her locker. She got to her art class and was drawing when Steve came in and said "Hey Frankie.." as he sat beside her.
"Hey Steve." she said
"You okay?' he said
"What do you do when you develop feelings for someone who doesn't feel the same way?' she said
"Frankie..who ever it is has to be an idiot to not feel the same way about you. You are beautiful you know that." he said as he hugged her.
She sighed and said "Yeah." as she went to back to her drawing she was working on.
That afternoon after she got showered and changed after cheer practice Bucky knocked on her bedroom. "Frankie you decent?'he said
"Yeah." she said as she pulled out her supplies and he came in.
"I want it to look like this." he said as he shows her the picture.

"Okay." she said
"Frankie are you okay? You seem upset." Bucky said
"No I'm fine.." she said as she started to put it all together for him.
Once she was done she closed the box and said "Here you go."
"Thank you Frankie.. are you sure that you are okay?" he said
"Yeah I'm fine. Now I have to do my homework." she said as she put all of her stuff up.
"Okay as long as you are okay." he said and he left.
She cried herself to sleep it was a week before homecoming and no one had asked her to go. The next morning she showed up at school with her blonde hair in two French braids and her glasses. Her cheer sweat pants and cheer jacket with a white tank top. Bucky's locker was down the same hall as hers and he heard "Oh Bucky I love it yes I'll go to homecoming with you." as she hugged him.
She looked over and saw Courtney kiss him after she sat the box down. She looked down and wiped a stray tear. She shut her locker and walked away not realizing that Bucky seen the tears streaming down her face.
"Courtney I'll be right back." he said
"Frankie wait stop." he said as he chased after her.
She kept walking and he stopped by walking in front of her and he lifted her chin. "Darlin what is the matter I knew I shouldn't of left you last night something obviously wrong."
"DOn't worry about it okay just go back to your girlfriend." she said
"Francesca Elizabeth what is wrong." he said
"I said not to worry about it." she said as she walked away.
Steve saw the whole interaction and he came up to her at lunch and he said "It's Bucky."
She looked over at him and he hugged her. "Shh it's alright I'm gonna go find Nat and Wanda for you okay." he said
"Okay." she said
Steve found Nat and Wanda in the lunch line and they rushed to her side. Bucky saw her crying to them and Steve said "Buck..just let her be."
"Why won't my best friend talk to me Steve?' he said
"I'm not telling you it's not my place to say." Steve said as they sat down.
After school she left before he could talk to her after cheer practice. "Nat what did I do?' Bucky said
"What makes you think you did something?' she said
"Cause if it was anything else she would tell me not you or Steve." he said
"Buck..let her tell you when she's ready." Nat said as she left.
