My heart bottoms out.
"What the hell do you mean dad's here? This isn't the fucking time for jokes Brooke." Ally hisses, fixing Brooke with a death glare.
"You think I'd joke about this shit? Why would I even think about joking on that topic. I walked into the kitchen after a walk and he was sitting there at the table with mom. As soon as I saw him I ran up here." She explains.
I can hear them talking more, but all I can think about is the fact he's here again.
"What the hell is he doing here! Isn't there enough shitty things going on here? Why does him of all people have to show up!" Emma basically screams, walking into my room.
I still can't believe he's actually here. I stand up off my bed, ignoring all of the questioning faces from my sisters, and make my way towards the kitchen.
"Liv what're you doing?" I ignore Ally and walk out of the bedroom.
Once I hit the dining room, I'm faced with the man that helped make me. The man that taught me how to ride a bike. The man that used to read me bedtime stories. The man that left me without reasoning five years ago. The man that broke my heart in more ways than one.
Him and my mother seem to be deep in conversation. His back is turned to me, but once my mother stops talking and notices me he turns around.
"Olivia." He stands and faces me, the same green Eyes as mine boring into me. His voice sounds the same, but I can't say the same for his body. His hair has gotten more gray and is receding, and his once almost flat stomach has turned into a small beer belly.
He walks closer to me, but I instantly back up, bumping right into Emma behind me. She holds onto my forearm, giving it a squeeze.
He frowns for a minute, but quickly covers it up by clearing his throat and flattening out his dress shirt.
"God you all have grown so much. Especially you Olivia." His lips form into small smile. He scans over my face, I guess realizing how much he's missed in these past years.
I see my mom stand up behind him. "Now that you all have down here, we can all sit and discuss things." She's using her business voice, but I can't remember a time she hasn't.
We all reluctantly sit down at the table. Ally's on my right, Emma on my left, and Brooke beside of Ally's next to mom. Mark takes is old seat across from us all. I reach under the table for Ally's hand and she gives me three long pumps and two quick ones. Our old sign.
No one says anything for a good minute so I decide to break the silence. "What are you doing here?"
He finally raises his head and looks at me, making me want to bolt right back into my room and lock myself in there.
"Your mother contacted me about everything's that going on and I was concerned. The things she was saying didn't sound like the girls I raised." I scoff at that. I must be in the fucking twilight zone.
I stand up out of my chair, nearly knocking it over in the process, and stare him down.
"You grew concerned? After five long ass years, you finally grew concerned! Where was your concern when you left huh? Where was it when I kept asking myself for months what I did wrong to make you leave me? Where was in for the last five birthdays for us all! Where the hell was it then!" I scream at him, feeling the fresh tears building up in my eyes. He's really going to sit across from us saying he was concerned.
"Olivia Grayce! Sit down right know and show some respect for you father!" Mom shouts, but I do nothing but stare at the man I share blood with. I can see the guilt and hurt in his eyes setting in. I want him to feel the pain I've left everyday since I was 12.
Someone tugs at my arm and I turn around to see Emma looking at me with pleading eyes. I reluctantly sit back down, but not before giving my father once last glare.
"This is what I was talking about when I said their behavior is out of control. Brooke's missing school, Emma's letting her grades slide, Olivia's obtained a new attitude from the new boy she's seeing and showing no respect, and Allyson went and let herself get pregnant." She throws a disappointed look at Ally and I feel her tense up.
"Wait, you're pregnant?" Mark asks, staring at Ally in amazement and confusion. Yeah dumbass, she's pregnant. Catch up.
"Yeah. I'll be six months next week." She replies shyly.
"Wow I can't believe my little girl is all grown up." Is all he says in return, still staring at Ally with adornment.
I see mother roll her eyes and glance up at me.
"Olivia, this talk mainly concerns to you." My eyes shoot up at that.
"What about me?"
"Well, your father and I have decided that when I'm away at work, you'll be staying with him. There will be stricter rules also." I stare at her as if this is a joke.
"You've got to be kidding me." Brooke says, staring mother down. "You can't honestly expect her to stay with him after all these years!"
"This isn't up for discussion Brooklyn. Considering I've lost trust in all of you, this is the best decision." She looks at all of us deeply, and I wonder what happened to my old mom.
"Emma and Brooke, if those grades don't start looking up, I will stop paying for you Tuition. I've let this go on long enough. And Allyson, I don't have much to say about you."
"Now I leave in about tomorrow morning, and Olivia, you will go straight to your fathers after school tomorrow."
I stand up and make my way towards the stairs, ready to lock myself in my bedroom. I'm done with this conversation.
Once I get to my bedroom, I shut and lock my door, pushing my heavy dresser against it.
I want to be alone. I can't even process everything that just happened. My mom would rather throw me to someone that left five years ago than fix things between her daughters. She'd rather continue to work crazy hours to ensure we're not her problem.
I get as comfortable as possible and let the darkness take me away from my overthinking mind.
