Ya okay we ALL were guilty of this cliche garbage point taker right here. The Akatsuki is over used and not placed in properly either.
So yes, your character can technically join since there has been 9 members in the beginning of Shippūden (Tobi not included). And still 9 character after Sasori died and Tobi joined.
So ya SURE your character has a spot. But 99% of fanfics never get this right.
Who the hell knows if the Akatsuki all lived together in a hide out. I thought for many seasons they just had their partners and were sent on long ass missions at a time. Literally, I don't see them all lazing around at all.
So I can't find any factual information whether or not the Akatsuki all lived together. They had MANY hideouts yes, for their rituals and some shrines they had for god knows why. I completely don't even know why a 15 year old kid kicked Orochimaru's ass...
So most of the time the authors on here break character constantly with every single character. Even I probably did in my Deidara fanfiction. I get it... we all love the hype of getting into high overrated fanfics.

All the Akatsuki members are suppose to act tough and assholes towards one and another EXCEPT FOR ITACH. It was stated he was super overly nice towards everyone even when he rarely got any kindness back. Kisame respected him and the partnership between them can never be replaced.
I honestly don't care if you end up over using this concept. It's way too cliche... I want different plot than rereading this over and over. It's fluff, ya... just not for me.
It's not like I don't want to, I never expected this since stories don't warn this kind of stuff obviously.
As a reader, I find many Akatsuki stories way too popular and OOC. A lot of the good ones are buried on here.
The Akatsuki aren't fluff at all! And literally, I see so many books making them fluff which ya I know it's fanfiction. But cmon really?

Like does it take mad science to come up some of your own plot, not over powered characters and A NEW ORGANIZATION PERHAPS?! Oh let's place in the Kara omg I want to read a fanfic that has them as the villain.
