So I found an interesting story here that's a Gaara fanfic with over 144k reads which is atrocious in my honest opinion and here is why.
Some stories do this and I don't know why.

Oh yes just the start to slice up an OC Mary-sue. Is just their age and what powers they have. I've encountered so many books with OCs that have Madara level powers at this age. But just keep reading, she's not slicing mountains just yet.
