Chloe

I wake up on the couch with Paige's feet in my face.

i quickly move my nose away from her toes and look at the clock

it reads 6:32

i shake paige awake

"Paigey its time to get up." i say.

"it is? OMG CHLOE WE OVERSLEPT IM GONNA BE LATE!"

we have to wake up at 6:15 on paige's schedule.

"we're fine paige."

she quickly scoots off the couch and gets dressed.

i run upstairs to Josh's room.

i knock on his door but don't wait for an answer.

i walk in and find Josh sprawled across his bed in only his boxers.

"Josh! Get up!" i whisper yell

"Josh!"

i kick him in the leg.

he jumps awake

"Lord Chloe you scared the hell out of me."

i laugh.

"You do know your room is a mess, right."

"Yeah. i haven't had time to clean lately."

"ok im gonna get dressed."

i walk out and see Paige, in her crop top and high waisted skirt, strut across the hallway

we both laugh.

i walk into Paige's room to find a cute grey graphic T-shirt and some high waisted shorts.

"Hurry up!" paige yells

"I'm coming, don't freak out!"

i quickly get changed into the clothes and put on my vans.

i sprint down the flight of stairs to find Josh already putting his backpack together

"Hey." i kiss him as i walk by and grab a granola bar from the cabinet.

"Morning." he sounds groggy.

i unwrap the foil like cover to the granola bar and throw it away.

i eat and pack up my homework and books at the same time.

i hear a bunch of screeches and eeky sounds.

it reminds me of a couple nights ago when we were speeding down the parkway to the hospital

"Chloe? Chloe? Chloe?!"

i jump and snap out of my gaze.

Paige looks me in the eye.

"Are you sure you can go to school today?"

"I'm fine."

"Chlo-"

"I'm ok Paige." i say with a little harsher tone in my voice.

"alright."

the bus pulls up slowly and the doors creak open.

"Good morning gals."

"Morning Hank."

"Chloay," his accent changes my name, "im sew sorray about your fam'lay."

i tear up a bit

Josh walks up the steps the the bus slowly, looking down at his feet, as if a zombie.

"Thanks Hank."

I walk down the row realizing all the seats were taken except one

i sit and josh slips in next to me.

i look at the window and let a tear roll down my cheek.

"Chlo?"

i sniffle.

"Chloe."

Josh hugs me from behind.

"its ok. you can get through this. i'll be here with you every step of the way."

i turn around and we kiss for a minute or so.

i hear giggles from behind us

i pull away smiling and laugh with them.

then, all of a sudden, the bus hits a pothole.

my body flies forward and i get a sudden headache on top of my head, instead of inside.

i rub my head and groan a little.

i look at josh to see him doing the same thing.

he catches my glance and laughs.

"You gave me a bruise." i make a fake frown.

"Waa my head! Kiss it to make it better!" josh leans his head towards me.

i lean into his head gently, trying not to make it hurt, but he brings his head up and kisses my lips instead.

he pulls away quickly and i laugh.

at that point i realize everyone is staring at us.

"Wow you guys. PDA much?"

"Shut up Paige." josh mutters and smiles at me

the bus comes to a stop and we walk into school.
