CHAPTER-10

I walked the path to my house listening to some depressing music because, why wouldn't I? Even the weather seemed to agree with me as the sky looked like it was going to start crying on my behalf. Thank the gods it's Friday.

"She was my sister"

These four words have been haunting me the past 3 hours. Once the bell signalling the end of recess had rung, all of us shuffled into our respective classes. I had an hour of math and two of economics with my treasured Mr Gordon. 

Throughout my classes I was completely zoned out barely managing to nod to the conversation attempts by Sophie and Abby. Nicky had tried to talk to me as well but my clear disinterest in the conversation drove him away.

"Oh my gawd, really  Hails, why do you have to put that goddamn awful color on your lips? You look pretty as it is, and if he doesn't like you the way you are forget him." I told the girl who was carefully applying bright pink lipstick onto her lips.

"Jeez Krissie this color brings out the green in my eyes... that's what he said." said Hails glancing dreamily at her reflection.

I pushed my glasses up my nose and frowned crossing my arms across my flabby  middle waiting for Hailey to finish applying that hideous color. Putting her lipstick down she took out a small compact and started patting her face sending white dust flying around her.

Once she felt satisfied with her face that resembled a bucket of white paint which contrasted highly against her tan skin on the rest of her body. 

I sighed "Are you doing all this because of him? Ah! it's my fault anyway, I shouldn't have gotten you two together." 

Hailey just snorted and stuffed her compact and lipstick inside her bag and turned towards me and said, "Well you did a good job getting us together let's go meet him now!" saying this she looped her arm around mine and dragged me out of the washroom.

Walking through the school corridor we both searched for the familiar tall figure with a mop of sandy brown hair. Finally he was spotted leaning against his locker waiting for us. Hails on seeing him rushed squealing "Babyyyy!!!" at the top of her lungs, rolling my eyes I slowly dragged myself to the couple who were intently staring at each other.

"Okay, I'll be going to class since you two lovebirds clearly don't need me anymore" I drawled readjusting the bag on my shoulder.

"Awww don't be like that, of course we need you." both of them said pulling me into the middle.

Putting my arm around the two I said "Well, I was only kidding of course you need me."

"We'll be best friends forever and ever and you can be my bridesmaid at our wedding and the godmother of our children." giggled Hailey.

Raising my arms I pretended to take a picture "Hailey Manners weds Samuel Smith"

I was jerked back to reality when one of my earplugs was rudely snatched out of my ear "Ouch!" I shouted as I turned to look at the offender.

It was Nicky, he tutted in disapproval and scrunched his face Gosh! he looks so cute ... wait what am I thinking shut up stupid sub-conscious mind.

  "What kind of music do you listen to? Really you have no taste in music nor in dressing. The hello kitty bra looks rather unflattering on you I must say" said Nicky with a smug expression.

My ears turned scarlet as I snatched the earplug back from him and shoved it into my bag. "What is wrong with you? First you enter my room without my permission and now you're commenting on my underclothes? Pervert!" I said shoving him away.

Nicky's lips curled up in amusement as he walked towards me. He slung his arm around my shoulder "Well you should have known to lock the door before changing but, I must say you do have a really toned body." he said raising his eyebrows looking impressed.

Rolling my eyes I continued walking the path sullenly staring at my feet. I could feel Nicky's intense gaze on me as I walked my ears burning brighter by the second under his scrutiny.

Finally I couldn't take it anymore I looked up and barked "Why are you staring at me?"

Quickly looking away Nicky said "Why are you in such a bad mood? You didn't talk to me in school either"

I sighed and continued walking ignoring his question I just didn't want to talk to anyone at all and especially not him.

Suddenly he rushed in front of me causing me to slam right onto his very muscular chest. I raised my eyebrows at him puzzled as to what he wanted.

He grabbed my shoulders and looked right into my eyes and said "It's okay to be sad sometimes but I'm gonna bring that smile back onto your face."

My eyes widened and I couldn't bring myself to say anything, nobody has ever said something like this to me "I- I don't kn-know wha-"

Nicky sighed and cut me off "I'll bring fries and ice cream."

Instantly the corners of my mouth lifted up causing Nicky to mirror my action as well. he slung his arm around me once again and continued walking dragging me along I tried to nudge off his arm but failed.

We went our way bickering as usual but my insides felt warm and nice after what Nicky had told me earlier... I'm definitely going to overthink this for another 5 years.

Phew! there's another chapter. I have my Business studies final exam ... the last Business exam I'll ever give in school (YASSSSSS!!!! DOBBY IS FREEE!!!) and I'm here writing a chapter (I honestly have no idea what is wrong with me, why am I not studying???)

Buuuut anywhoo I'm still writing and you're still reading (hopefully) so I guess that's what matters.
