Juanito, what's the Mata?
Chapter 5 - So What now?
Now it was summer and my family had planned a family trip to the greek islands. My cousin's Ádam and Ernesto spent most of the time in the hotel room watching the Euro cup matches. They didn't care if it was live or not, they just spent most of the time talking about it. I had to pull them out of the room a couple of time because it was getting on my last nerve. Rhe rest of my family, including myself, only watched the Spain matches. Up until now Mata hasn't had his time to shine and in fact I had texted him a couple of time wishing him Good Luck. We weren't complete strangers, but we were still just friends and it was killing me.
Today was the Final and of couse I was exited to see them play. I had called David the day Spain won the semi final and asked him about his thoughts of the chances of Spain actually winning, again. He had told me he completely trusted his team and his fellow teammates. Last night I had called Jordi and wished him the best of luck, he then told me the best news ever. He told me that Juan had plans to come to the greek islands win or lose with his family. His desicion kind of smelled like a plot by Carolina and Paula but I smiled just knowing they cared.
I was wearing my Juan jersey and my family was in shock when they saw me with it because of how heart broken I was less than a year ago. I really felt like I was over my heart ache because I knew that I will always love him, even if I am with him or not, plus it would feel weird wearing another jersey. I remembered the last time I was with him and how magical it was and not talking about the situation just him saying he loved me. We all sat around the TV in the room I shared with Vero and Catalina.
My heart was racing because it was another match and Juan wasn't going to start. I was scared really, I wanted my national team to win. I wanted this for my country and also because it was Jordi's first EURO. I looked over at Carolina who was wearing a Jordi Alba jersey. They both decided to end things before he left for the EURO because Jordi was going to join Barcelona and she was going to move to London with Veronica and myself. Two months ago I got a call from Carolina telling me that the only way she and Vero could move to London was in either Meche or I would move in with them. Meche had said no, but I knew how much this meant to her so I ended up saying yes after her telling me I was going to work as her fashionista.
We had a flat that I hadn't seen yet which scared me. I didn't know any of the details about us moving to London just that I was moving with them. It felt great really, I was happy because I knew I would never forget Juan and the years we spent together. He was still a part of my life, not in the way I wanted him to be, but maybe one day we'll get back together. I got out of my head when I saw the players leave the tunnel. I kissed my crest just like I did in every match during the World Cup and smiled. It felt like a silly ritual but they won every single match I did that.
David Silva opened the scoring boared in the 14' minute with a great pass by Cesc Fàbregas. My family started jumping up and down and we all scream and celebrated. The game was pretty much intense, but Spain had most of the control of the ball. I knew Spain was going to win when the ball was on Jordi's feet and he made a run for it and scored. He celebrated by pointing to the sky which was the celebration he said he was going to do for Carolina. I could see a tear fall from my cousins eye. After that it felt like Spain was keeping a light pace because the few moments they attacked weren't as strong as when they started.
The first half ended and we all decided to take bathroom breaks or grab some chips and drinks. I pulled out my phone to find that I had a BBm and the name had taken me completly by surprise. I could read the the name Juan Mata in my black berry. I checked BBM and saw that he had thanked me and added a kiss at the end of it. I wanted to jump and scream because I didn't know how to react. The first time he ever sent me a smiley of any kind was the day right before he asked me to be his girlfriend. I put my phone back down at the table with a huge grin on my face and call my famly because the second half was about to start.
