"So how'd you get this curse, Luna?"

Several miles had been flown by the time Stella began asking her questions. She felt Luna tense up after hearing her ask, despite her knowing that it would come.

"It was... a long time ago that it happened," Luna started. It was a second or two before she continued. "Another version of me did it. It wasn't hard for her to do it, either, she had much more magic than I did at the time." She paused again, thinking that she could end the explanation there. Deciding to keep going, she said, "All I can remember is her being a snow leopard, her leaving the form, her peridot eyes, and the metal arm. And obviously the curse she used." When she finished, she realized that Stella might have the wrong idea about the other her, so she added, "Lucile wasn't as harsh as I might've made her seem, she was just doing what she thought would help me. Had she'd known what the curse actually did to me, she probably wouldn't have done it."

Several silent minutes passed as they neared the source of the sound that only Stella, Liliana, and Taylor could hear.

"...I'm sorry."

Confused, Luna asked, "For what?"

"That this happened," Stella replied. "I remember the day you said you weren't feeling very well. Even after seven years, that day has been a thorn to me. I shouldn't have let you go by yourself."

"Stella, there's nothing we can do about the past," Luna told her, trying to calm her down at least a little bit. "None of us have time magic, so we couldn't know that she was there, either. It is what it is." Silence followed.

Many more minutes passed before they reached the cavern, where an unexpected face had replaced Liliana. His facial features were very similar to Ender's, but his magic gave off the smells of sand, clean air, and a bonfire. Ender was breathing heavily, unsure of what happened, before seeing the stranger stand before them.

"It's you!" he shouted before transforming into his cat form. He was noticeably smaller than the last time he was in this form, but felt more powerful with its magic.

"Yeah, it is me, Ender. If I'd known I could do this, I would've a long time ago." He clenched his hands, realizing how long it had truly been. "For those who don't know me, I'm Enzefer Genoshi, the "other half" of Ender. And the first thing I want to do is apologize."
