once sufjan stevens' voice finishes the song quietly, i'm parked in front of the layers of trees on the outskirts of town. i felt louis' eyes on me as i drove the whole way here, making prominent dimples appear in my cheeks, my face hurting from smiling so much and heating from blushing so much. the way his eyes feel dancing over my skin is like a cold shower on a sunburn, soft and soothing, perfect. but now that the song is over and the car is still, he moves his focus from me to the forest just behind my window.

this is a spot i've been wanting to share with somebody for a long time, i don't know why i never brought anyone here, not even best friends or... things of that sort. but, it just feels perfect for louis, feels almost like where he belongs, shining under the dimmer stars.

"we're here," i say gesturing out the window at the tall trees and gravely road.

"where is 'here'?" louis asks, questioningly looking at me, eyebrow raised and hand finding its way to his hip. cute when he's sassy isn't he?

"'here', louis, is the woods," i say sarcastically as i begin to open the door and step out into the cool air.

"oh, couldn't tell," louis remarks, crawling out his door and jumping down onto the ground below his short legs. he starts walking towards me, obviously chilled even in my fluffy jacket. he comes up and i wrap my arms around his waist as i move him in front of me towards the now open trunk. my chest flush against his back and my arms resting comfortably on his low waist. i have to lean over a little to achieve this position, so i rest my chin on top of his soft hair.

"can you grab the blankets and pillows and follow me?" i ask him, whispering into his ear from behind, i can feel the shiver i send down him, and feel the heat that spreads with it.

"i'd love too," he says slowly, waiting for my release to grab the supplies from the trunk. i slowly unwrap my arms from him and kiss the back of his head before grabbing all the food and the small pink plush chairs, the only things close to bean bags i could find at tesco, and strolling to a small but defined path at the edge of the trees.

"are we just going on a hike? but like, over prepared?" louis asks, as he comes up to stand behind me, pillows in hand and blankets already wrapped around himself.

"only a short one, there's a final destination, don't worry louis," i say, assuringly as i start to lead us into the path.

"how do i know you're not just as really elaborate serial killer?" he questions, although his actions contradict his words as he starts to move behind me, falling in step with me.

"louis, if i wanted you dead, you'd be dead. and anyway," i say as i swat spider webs out of our way, "you're following me so, that's on you." i can imagine how easy it would be for some crazy fucker to just lure a sweet man like louis out here, just to kill him. damn, this world is sick. people hurting people, people hurting themselves, people just hurting in general. makes my soul heavy with empathy to even think about.

i'm quickly pulled out of my gruesome thoughts by louis' soft and perfectly accented voice, "i guess that's true haz, but for real, how much longer till we get there?" he asks, even though we've only been out here for like 5 minutes, it is cold though so i understand why he's so uncomfortable. and he's carrying at least 6 pillows.

"lou, we've only been walking for 5 minutes," i say, glancing down into his obviously confused blue eyes, "just another 5 and we should get there, mind the incline," i continue as the path makes an obvious cut upwards and the journey becomes much steeper than even i remember.
