Jamal POV
I can't believe this shit. I dont know what to do. We get to my granny house and the ambulance is here. Like right when when pulled up they were coming out.
"Stay right here." I told Africa. I jumped out the car to see what was going on. The officer pushed me aside.
"Thats my grandmother" I shouted and he let me through. I went to her and all I heard was Madison scream.
"Grannyyyyy" I dont want her to see my granny like this, but she did. She saw the gas mask over her mouth. She saw my granny strapped to the gurny. I looked back and turned back to my granny.
"Whats going on?"
"Sir, we have to get her to the hospital immediately. I jumped in the ambulance with my grandmother, as they sped off. I'm more than positive that Africa will get the hint and follow the truck. We arrived 7 minutes later and we all jumped out and the nurses that waited outside rolled her inside. I guess the look on my face said something because the driver grabbed my shoulder.
"Stay strong son." He got back in the truck and drove off. I went inside and I see Africa panicking like a crazy woman, and Madison standing next to her. I rushed over to her.
"Africa chill."
"No because if I wasnt arguing with you we would have got here in time. She wouldnt be in the hospital if I didnt take my time getting dressed. " She was crying so Madison started crying. I hate when they cry. I wrapped my arm around Africa's waist and picked up Madison with my other arm, she laid on my shoulder crying still.
"What's wrong Maddy?"
"Mommy is sad" I turned my head to kiss her. Honestly I felt the same pain she did. I dont know whats going on with my granny. Africa is crying and So is Maddy. I walked them to the waiting area. I wanted to cry too, but what the hell will I look like crying infront of them. Like a punk, I have to stay strong for them and my grandmother.
"Africa. You have to calm down. You stressing and crying aint good for the baby" I rubbed her stomach. She put her hand on top of mines. Then Madison put hers on top of Africa's. Africa smiled, then it suddenly faded.
"Whats wrong?" I jumped up.
"I need to call Dianne. "
"For what?"
"To tell her I can't meet her today, She should understand tho, this is an emergency"
"What do you need to tell her for?" I said forgetting I called that lady like 3 weeks ago.
"About my apartment Jamal. I cant get the keys from her today"
"Daddy has the key to the house momma" Madison butted in. Africa looked at me. I smiled.
"What she talking about?"
"Yea whatchu talking about Madison?" I said, looking at her.
"Mommy your stuff is already at home. Daddy can let you in with the key" I coughed hoping she would get the hint to close her mouth.
"Jamal, you have the key to my apartment?"
"No"
"Nooo mama, daddy has the key to our house. My sister room so pretty"
"Madison" She covered her mouth and ran to play with the toys. I looked at Africa, and she was already looking at me.
"What is she talking about Jamal?"
"Umm" I grabbed the back of my neck. "Look." If I wanna do right, I have to start by being honest with her, and as much as I wanna throw Mike under the bus, I can't. " Baby this is not how I wanted to tell you. It was supposed to be a surprise. uhh..the apartment downtown is sold, and your money was refunded back to you"
