-Two Weeks Later-

Things seemed to be going good for Yusei so far. He was getting along well with Jack, he was starting to open up to others more, and was even hanging out with his friends more often. Yusei was finally starting to feel like he could relax little by little. All of his wounds and bruises seemed to be healed by this point, not a mark left on his body even remotely related to what had happened to him. By this point, Yusei was even starting to be more comfortable being without his sister around, and it was all thanks to Jack. Yusei couldn't have asked for anyone better than him... Sure, he was very wary and untrusting of him at first, but considering all the shit he's been through, it was pretty understandable. Now though, Yusei seemed to actually Jack. He didn't rely on him, but he did trust him enough to where he wasn't so sheltered like he was before. Jack helped to make Yusei realize that he didn't have to carry his burdens all on his own, that he could open up to others. He showed Yusei what it means to trust someone again, and soon enough, that trust was about to be put to the test. So then, just how far does Jack's trust and willingness to protect Yusei stretch? And thus, it begins...

It was around 7:30-ish on a Saturday evening. Since it was nearing winter, by this point, the sun had already gone down and it was dark outside. Yusei just sat in his room, quietly fiddling with his Duel Disk (since he liked to tinker with things) while listening to some music. Suddenly though, he heard knocking on his bedroom door. The raven perked up, removing his headphones as his door opened to reveal his sister, though she seemed to be dressed up for a night out. She chipperly entered her brother's room with a bright smile on her face, her blue eyes shining with excitement.

"Hey, bro!" She greeted in a perky voice.

"Hey, Yuko. What's up?" Yusei greeted his sister.

"Oh, nothin' much. I'm just going out with the girls for a bit, but I wanted to make sure you were okay."

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just trying to fix my old Duel Disk since Dad kinda broke it a while back, but you go have fun, okay? I'll be alright here for a while since Dad's probably out drinking again..." Yusei said, having been used to this sort of thing.

"Alright, but if anything happens, call me, or even Jack. Promise me, okay?"

"Yes, Yuko, I promise."

She smiled. "Good! Now then, I should be back later tonight, so don't wait up for me, 'kay?" Yuko then skipped over to her brother, giving him a big hug before heading back for the door. "Take care, okay?" She gave a wink.

Yusei nodded, chuckling a bit. "Yeah, you too."

"Mm! I will. See ya, bro!" And with that, Yuko closed the door and made her leave, Yusei now all alone in that empty house.

Once Yuko had left the house, Yusei returned to what he was doing, which was fiddling with his Duel Disk. He grabbed his tools and began to take the device apart until he could see the inside. Once the inside of the Duel Disk was revealed to him, the raven began to tinker with the wires on the inside. He was moving them around, reconnecting them to different ports. After some time, Yusei paused to take a look at his work. He grinned to himself when he found everything looked right before grabbing his screwdriver and tightening some of the bolts and screws on the inside that were loose. Once everything was pretty secure, Yusei began to piece the device back together. When it was all one piece again, Yusei tightened all the bolts and screws on the outside. With that done, everything seemed to be in working order, but Yusei wanted to be sure. So, after digging around in one of his drawers on the bedside table, he pulled out a deck of duel monster cards, only to then insert the deck into the deck holder slot. Suddenly, the Duel Disk made a whirring noise as it lit up and his deck was shuffled. Yusei's eyes lit up as an excited smile appeared on his face.
